The breakfast here is one of our favorites, so much that we drive an hour out of our way to dine here on occasion. The pancakes are thick and fluffy. The sausage gravy is mostly sausage with a little bit of gravy. It's made with nahunta spicy sausage which is flavorful with a little heat. The home fries are always hot and crispy. We've never left here hungry.
Big Ed’s in Raleigh, NC is absolutely amazing! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm, welcoming smiles and seated quickly, which immediately set the tone for a great experience.

Maybe I should have come for breakfast?
I was first struck by the fact that the portion sizes were much smaller than expected.
Given that this is a restaurant that has been in the area for a while, my expectations were high. Alas, I couldn't shake the feeling that it was a pale imitation of a cracker barrel (to be fair, I like cracker barrel, though I only find myself there on road trips).
I had country ham with turnip greens and mashed potatoes.......
