I have now been glutened at Bru twice, a few years apart, by their “gluten free” food after being told both times that it was safe and completely gluten free. If gluten sensitive or Celiac, beware. It’s otherwise a cute place with friendly service, tasty food, and a good drink selection,

The personal pizza is my go to! It comes loaded with toppings, pictured is meatball and Jalapeño. Pretty good and large burger too. Service was great staff very friendly. If you ask for something even if its busy its not a big deal.
Great rotating craft beer selection always got some delicious local beer on tap stuff you dont see everywhere.
Big turn out for Canes games here

The Brueben Sandwich was a bit too spicy for me, but it had great flavor and the fries are excellent!

Had to bring the pup to NC State Vet. Wanted to find a good local restaurant, not a chain. What a genuine diamond found. Great service, fast service,. PHENOMENAL FOOD. Thank you for a great experience. Will always come back when in town. Thank you Danny, great to meet you. Keep doing what you do. Great business, great food.

No turnover on tables! Since it’s close to PNC arena, if there is any event there, People arrive early and sit at the table FOREVER, well after finishing eating until there event begins. No hostess, no turnover on tables. Canes game started at 7 we got there at 4:30 and not a chance of sitting anywhere. First come, first serve. Food is amazing but we will not go back due to that. 1 person sitting at a table of 6. Not drinking or eating, poking at his phone. But no one cares!

Disclaimer : Please note that I cannot really rate this restaurant or review it because we did not get to enjoy the experience of trying the food… this is based solely on our experience with the staff and the atmosphere and environment.
It was fairly busy last night when we arrived. It was my son’s birthday … close to NC State so he chose it as I had heard pretty good things about the food.
We walked into a very chaotic scene, trying to find a table was difficult.
Guests were hovering over tables who were lingering w/ to go boxes … some tables appeared to be waiting for checks .. there seemed to be no orderly line ..guests were wandering in from all directions.
We waited for a while and then saw an empty table which a server was busing . I approached …. the same time as another gentleman did we sort of looked at each other and both said we were waiting … the server immediately looked at me and literally screamed… quite loudly … in front of my family …. something like ….he was here first… it’s his table … he touched the table first …
The gentleman and I looked at each other … he started to walk away and he said you can have it .. and I said actually you can have the table and he said no no you have it ..I’m leaving… as he was walking away … the server literally yelled at me … once more …
I have never had an employee scream or yell at me in a restaurant before … & I frequently out …
I looked at her & without saying a word I turned around and walked away .. this gentleman, and l both left in frustration ….
This chaotic scene .. which left both parties upset could’ve easily been avoided. … we may have left anyway, but to be spoken to in this fashion and screamed at in front of my family and other guests in fact … is just absolutely unacceptable…
There is no orderly way to find a table or be seated. This first come first serve seating situation must cause frustration for the entire staff … there are so many ways to make this a better experience… it’s not that anyone seemed to mind waiting. It was just that no one knew who who was next or who was waiting longer, etc..
That said … if you do try this place, make sure it’s not busy and that you see plenty of open tables otherwise absolutely not worth the frustration..
We ended up going to The Mill … we were greeted at the door with kindness … and with a sincere smile .. we enjoyed our dinner as we had great service from a knowledgeable , calm & professional server …

Restaurantji Recommends
One of the best restaurants ever. Come as you are. Best prepared and presented food, consistently. Staff is so efficient and nice. Trivia night is packed but still great service. Ruben and Cuban are so good, we never take the chance to order anything else. I guess we will have to go with different friends so we can taste theirs. Lol.

Bustling place! Got a seat at the bar. Fast and friendly service. I ordered the adult grilled cheese with tomato that was divine and the other entrée was the meatball sub which was pretty good. Our drinks were fantastic.

Food looks bomb if you can get a table! I went here on a wednesday night. it’s a “seat yourself” scenario which sounds cool if it’s dead. Yet, every table was taken and we formed a line to wait on tables . did this for 45 minutes , and when one table finally opened up , some chick from out of nowhere came in and took the table. when confronted by a man about the people waiting in line (me) she said in her best stuck up voice “it’s seat yourself” and then complained to a waitress about being confronted, and the waitress had to reassure her. like what is this ? i want food, i don’t want to play the hunger games for a table. it’s madness. i thought i was being punked or in some social experiment. dude just get a host like a normal restaurant and restore order. absolute insanity. no thanks. took my business to the asian restaurant next door. mojitos there are great, i needed a couple extra after having to go into fight or flight for a TABLE
response to message below : Thank you for your response. The restaurant was not operating on a first come first serve basis. As people who came in AFTER my group, were aggressively getting tables before those who were waiting there “first”. it was more of a “first to the table, first to get served” which as you can imagine is frustrating and chaotic and not a fun dining experience. Maybe on nights when there is a large concert in town, implement some more structure. I now understand the restaurant’s capacity is limited for a Lenovo Crowd. I am not part of the local crowd, so I can’t see myself coming back, but hope the experience is as good as it looked for people who go there on slower nights.
