I have been eating here for 52 years! True NC BBQ!

Brisket is great, but dont sleep on that bbq chicken. So so good.

We had to wait a long time for the food. Another group walked in at the same exact time as us and they were finished with their food by the time we got our drinks. After we were served, the waitress never came back to check in on us or ask if we needed anything, which I think is basic customer service. Also, the food wasn’t good at all, the burgers had a bad vinegar taste and the vegetables were plain. Lastly, they didn’t clean up the tables next to us for ages, the food was just left out to rot.

In short, long waits and bad food.

I learned I don't like east Carolina bbq flavors

I was excited to give Clyde Cooper's a try, honest thoughts:

Brisket:
- Texture/ Juiciness: didn't pull apart, hard to cut with a knife, and didn't bend in the slightest
-Taste: Rubbery layer of unrendered fat on top with poor coloring (see pic)
- Bark: Didn't have any
- Brisket Rating 1/10

Pulled Pork:
- Texture/ Juiciness: dried out, not tender
- Taste: no smoke flavor but tasty NC sauce helped give some flavor
- Pulled Pork Rating 2/10

Positives: Hush puppies and mac n cheese were good. Kind waitress.
Price: $30 platter

0. Very disappointing

Service and place was nice the food was not the pork was dry and the cole slaw barely helped. The drinks tasted watered down. And the Hushpuppies were excellent so that gets one star

Oh my goodness!! Everything about this restaurant was amazing. I got a barbeque sandwich and it was topped with smoked sausage! I also had fried okra and pork skins. Typically I don’t like pork skins, but theirs are amazing. Our server was also amazing and so were the other people on the staff we met. I will definitely be back.

Ive heard of Coopers BBQ all my life from my mom. Finally got a taste today!! TOTALLY WORTH THE 56 YEAR WAIT!!! Thank you for making it amazing and everything made our it to be!!!

Amazing!! Must try BBQ in downtown raleigh. Great menu items and prices. I got the chopped chicken sandwich with hush puppies, fries, & asked to put cole claw on the side. So good.
