Wonderful place. We had been at the same location a year ago, it was another restaurant, so the menu was a surprise. But a wonderful one. We had the ceviche, the pulpa and the tofu rice. Very tasty.

At the end of the dinner, the waiter comes and tells us that three people who we don't know paid for our dinner. I guess this is a one off, but it made our night.

Mid Vibes with expensive drinks. The music is not great is such a small room finding parking in the area is awful. Also the drinks are expensive and if u add a tip it dont matter they will add 4-5 on their own. I will not be returning and from now on going to Patio Nighclub. Way better ambience and the drinks are priced way better and no surprise surcharge.

DJ was really good on Island Thursday!

I liked the atmosphere; the music was at a good volume where you could have a conversation, and the selection was varied. The place is small, so there aren’t many seating options. I only ordered a beer.

Left my credit card here last night, because you hand them your card and they leave it on the table or anywhere instead of handing it back to you. They tip themselves and for worst I had multiple charges when I woke up this morning.

They need to hand people back their cards.

Took forever to get service and the staff was rude unless you were a personal friend of theirs.

If you happen to go, be aware of the tap you’ll open at the bar. They market or promote the drinks at a different price when you pay at the end, you’ll get charge for whatever price including taxes?? And even the tip. Experienced already twice or three times. They fixed tge first time because I checked right away, 2nd they did not reimbursed and 3rd ended up paying with cash instead. Overall, it’s a great environment and it feels safe. Come on fix the problem so more people can come.

March 2, 2025 was our first visit to Cortez, happens to be the LAST dinner service before they close for a few weeks to renovate the property! So glad we did! Mexican influenced food, taking advantage of local high quality NC ingredients and a few from elsewhere, super fresh. I don't know if they'll revamp the menu upon reopening, but I'm sure whatever it is will be good! The wine list is short and concise but with good matches for the menu. Raw oysters - Two NC, one VA choices, all good. Roasted oysters - good Grilled pulpo with some greens and local butter beans - outstanding Roasted brussels sprouts with Bulgogi sauce - wow, one of the top five restaurant veg dishes I've had anywhere. We didn't have eating capacity left but the smoked papas would have been next. We'll be back when we get back to Raleigh!

For years Cortez has been my partner and I's go to for birthdays, anniversaries, date nights, and just feel good food. Consistent quality and top notch service every meal. Oh and our favorite place to get oysters. We will miss you, Cortez. Excited for what's next.

So glad we were able to go one last time before the renovation to a new restaurant. Will miss this unbelievable food and ambiance!

So sad this place is closing! We're looking forward to the new venture/space, but please keep the ham as, pulling, and charred oysters!

We will miss you Cortez. Dozens of date nights, and four or five Valentines dinners. Looking forward to what's next.

Not great. First time here, and unfortunately the last. To be fair it was a fixed menu for Valentine's Day but there were only two entree options and only one dessert. Nothing was spectacular, and it wasn't inexpensive. 🤷🏻‍♂️

We dined for the Valentine's Day Prix Fixe. The food was delicious and service was attentive.
