DO NOT RECOMMEND.
I ordered two bowls of ramen and my total should have been $55.50, but my card was charged $3,056.75 instead.
It has been over a month, the incorrect charge was never reversed, and I was charged the $55.50 again on top of the $3,000+ mistake. My card had to be locked because of this.
Completely unacceptable handling of a serious payment error. I would not recommend this place until they fix their billing practices and take accountability.

I am nothing if not picky about my ramen. While I am not a connoisseur, I have had ramen in most major US cities and in areas of significant Japanese influence including Hawaii, SF, LA, etc. So I'm probably a snob. I have visited probably 6-7 ramen shops around the Triangle and this is by far the best combination of food, service, and atmosphere, with a heavy emphasis on food. Their Tonkotsu is umami-rich with the right balance of salt and their noodles consistently have excellent consistency and texture. I have been here 5 times and each time had a similarly good experience. Whenever I try another ramen shop, I have found myself wishing I was here instead.

I’m giving this place a 5 star because of our server. We went to Gen Ramen tonight because our party wanted ramen AND sushi. But when we arrived, our server said they didn’t have sushi right now. We decided to leave because having sushi meant a lot to our party. When I told the server, he was very kind and understanding. He even gave us a recommendation that was just down the street. I didn’t get his name, but I appreciate him very much.

Nice finding Hakata style ramen in Raleigh~
Fries were served with ketchup + sriracha(?) mayo. Thought both the fries & edamame were a touch on the over-salted side, but otherwise delicious!

Tonkotsu ramen: Very disappointing ramen. The broth was way too salty, the pork was dry and tough. They don’t even include bean sprouts — you have to pay extra for something that should be a standard topping. For the price, this felt like a letdown. There are plenty of better ramen spots out there.
Not worth it for anyone who actually knows good ramen!

Delicious. Love seeing the dish spelled out as vegan boldly on the menu. Updated from previous review on 2025-12-26

**UPDATE DEC 21 2025**
stopped in again tonight and as usual, the ramen was on point. the volcano spice is so delicious, I think its 10 times better and more flavorful/spicy than their 1-4 scale chili oil to where i wish i could take it home. in my previous review, i felt last time that the ajitsuke were too bland— but tonight they were DELICIOUS! SO MUCH BETTER AND SO FLAVORFUL!!! I hope the consistency stays!
service was a tad slow and inconsistent for my table which was a small let down, but it seemed very busy, so I understood why! per usual, i can’t wait to come back.
suggestion: i would love to be able to order my favorites via doordash. i see they are on grubhub, but i don’t use any other deliver apps besides doordash. maybe one day! 😄

I see why this place won the 14th spot in yelps top rated ramen restaurants in the country. I have been here more than several times and each time I get more addicted to their tonkatsu ramen. The broth is rich, decedent, flavorful, and full bodied and the noodles also taste very well seasoned and have an amazing texture. As for the veggie toppings, they are fresh and complement the ramen extremely well and were not over crowding the bowl, just perfect. The pork slices were tender, and charred to perfection… it’s incredible how on point this place is as the mass majority of ramen places around the triangle are mid at best. THE BEST TONKATSU!
My only gripe is that the ramen eggs need more flavor, they were pretty bland and could have been marinated way longer. I also feel that the appetizers and desert portions are EXTREMELY small for the steep price points on their menu, I hope that sometime will change.
