The restaurant had an old rancid smell. The wonton soup tasted like dirty water. The chicken in the Kung po was breaded and fried in oil that needed to be changed and was hard and dry. Will not be returning again.
Wish I would have read the reviews before going here just got off work and wanted some food real quick but the food tasted old and like the oil hasn't been changed in awhile pretty much just like what most of the reviews said will not be returning
I've had better shrimp fried rice.
I used to love this place but the food has just changed. All of the food tastes like it was cooked in the same old oil. It was also finished cooking suspiciously fast, leading me to think some of it was pre-cooked (4 different dishes in less than 10 min). I grew up eating here, it was the GO-TO, but now I wouldn't eat here if it were free.
So I was passing through the area and only wanted vegetable rice š. What a huge mistake. The AC was broken (red flag). There was no one there except the employees. This was the worst $$ I had spent in awhile. Disappointed and had to discard most of the rice. The owner swore they only prepare the food as you order. I stepped next door to the food Lion. By the time I got back the bag was on the counter.
Please beware if you decide to dine at this place. See photos and videos attached :
I love that the fact that they're open until 11:00 p.m. the food is consistently good

This place use to be so good. I don't know what happened. I ordered two appetizers and a combo plate. Everything was burnt. I ordered a shrimp roll that didn't have any shrimp..just cabbage. I'm so disappointed. ?
If you want the worse Chinese food ever visit this place, it was bloody awful.

Ive Never Been To This Restaurant. The Rest Of The Reviews Are Iffy. But Im Here To Tell You The Food Is All Around Disgusting⦠I Ordered Gen. Tso Chicken Combo. It Tasted Like Chemicals && Dishwater. The Chicken Didnt Look, Feel Or TASTE Like Chicken. It Was Brown && Slimey. && The Aftertaste Is Unexplainable. The Eggroll Wasnt Done. And The Inside Was A Red Paste. No Real Food Inside At All Yet Somehow Was Burnt On The Outside. Im Not One To Leave Reviews && Slander Any Business But They Absolutely Need To Do Better!

This place is the best takeout Chinese in Raleigh... just avoid the meat on sticks... otherwise everything is amazing!! The woman there even takes my bean sprouts and cooks them with the food I order!!

The eggrolls tased great, however the oil tasted really old and needed to be changed it ruined the flavor of the food. They had been pretty busy all night long. Several people waiting for their food. I ordered sweet and sour chicken and sesame chicken and the oil taste just over powered all the flavor. Iāll give it a second shot but that oil taste really killed it . Had to add soy sauce chile and sweet and sour sauce to get that lingering old oil taste out. Staff was nice and patient while they were slammed with orders however the AC doesnāt work in this location and we came out all red and

Golden China has been a staple for me over the past 20 years. I've stood by this restaurant through thick and thināwhether it was a drop in their sanitation score, missing food items, or dishes that didn't meet their usual standards. They always accommodated my special requests, which kept me coming back. Even after moving further away six years ago, I continued to make the 20-minute drive to support them because I trusted the quality of their food.
Today, however, feels like the final straw, and writing this review feels like writing a breakup letter. When I got home, I called to inform them about the poor quality of my meal. As we tried to eat it, it was clear it was inedible. I called back to let them know I would be returning the food and requested a replacement, hoping for a larger size as a gesture for the inconvenience. They agreed, but when I arrived with the meal, the cashier began ringing up a new order. Confused, I asked why, and she explained that because I asked for more, I needed to pay for it. I was fine with getting the same exact order that I had before.
I tried to explain the inconvenience of having to come back, but she insisted she couldn't afford to give extra food. I also can't afford to waste gas on a round trip for food that was overcooked and tasteless. She blamed the quality on the cook, but the only cook I saw was the one that has been there for 20 years. Despite telling them I wouldn't write a review and would just call to discuss the issue, my recent experience compelled me to share.
I truly wish them all the best in their business, but based on today's experience with both the food quality and customer service, they have lost a loyal customer. This really does feel like the end of a long relationship, and it's unfortunate it had to come to this.
