Howling Cow Dairy Education Center and Creamery

Howling Cow is the perfect mix of education and enjoyment. The ice cream is rich, creamy, and made with milk from cows right on the farm. The Dairy Education Center gives visitors a unique look into how dairy products are made, and the Randleigh Dairy Museum offers interactive exhibits for all ages. The porch with rocking chairs and views of the pastures make it a relaxing stop. It can get busy on weekends, but it’s absolutely worth the visit.

Such a unique North Carolina gem! The ice cream here is incredible—fresh, creamy, and made right on site by NC State. It truly tastes like it came straight from the cow. The setting makes it even better—you can enjoy your cone while looking out at the dairy farm and watching the cows that make it all possible. Great spot for families, students, or anyone who appreciates delicious ice cream with a farm-to-cone experience. A must-visit!

This is the best ice cream I’ve ever had. The ice cream nachos were incredible, and I had cherry ice cream for the first time and it was AMAZING! High quality ingredients, delicious taste, big-sized scoops. My boyfriend loves their milk as well, and is wondering where he could buy it by the gallon. The employees/students were efficient and kind despite the long lines on weekends. And the view is incredible with the prettiest cows! 🍦🐄💚 We live in Chapel Hill, and this far surpasses Maple View in our eyes (since the changes there 😞). We will be coming back soon!

Appearance, Taste and Texture of ice creams are exceptional. You get so many options of toppings as well for an extra charge.
Visit this place if you could spend some time viewing the nature with an ice cream in one hand and helping your taste buds with another.

Kids would love this place. Initially for some time they would enjoy the ice cream (Kids cone available) offered to them. Later they could run or play in the vast area covered with grass outside the creamery.

Kids can as well see and observe how the cows eat grass from farmland.
