Lovely service. Not crowded. Pleased to have it in the main building as the other just feels more cold cafeteria. More food than three old ladies could eat. Carol singer was loud and made conversation hard as well as being not very good. Of course, what do I know? I do know afternoon tea very well but not much about music. Creative generous arrangement of tea tray and table setting.
We have gone to this Christmas tea in the past and it was always great. Not so this time. We were not seated as we requested. the staff gave only excuses about how inconvenient it would be for us to sit at a table other than the one that was nearly out of the cafe in the lobby. This is the opposite of hospitality. The tea did not seem to be up to the standards of our previous experience and the food, while good, was also not up to the standards we had come to expect. In the end, staff that can't meet simple requests for seating without trying to guilt the paying customer have no business working at a restaurant. We will not be back.
Would not recommend this event. Service was fine, atmosphere was great, the food was terrible.
My friend and I met for lunch at the café and it was delightful. We both had the fig and apple salad and shared the brownie with bright purple vegan ice cream for dessert. A passerby was struck by the purple-ness of it and inquired about the flavor because the color was so striking. It was a delicious ending to a lovely lunch.
We were visiting Raleigh and our daughter suggested we go here. Lunch was delicious! Well kept secret and free Modern Art.
This venue is managed. They use open table for booking but have absolutely zero customer support. We had to drive down to the venue because no one answered our repeated voice mails
Okay for a snack bar but was unimpressive for holiday tea at $75 per guest plus required 20% tip, all prepaid at reservation with no change or cancellation allowed. NCMA never answered calls or email with questions after booking. No holiday decorations whatsoever. Cookie decorations in another building. Don't bother.
We had a fantastic festive time at the Gingerbread Tea. If this event is done next here at NCMA, we are definitely going. Wonderful for all ages.
This cafe never disappoints. Loved the chicken salad with tarragon. Out server was attentive and thoughtful.
Our group of six enjoyed a delicious brunch at the café recently. Pumpkin pancakes, Eggs Benedict, chicken salad, and chicken sandwiches were all a big hit. The food was a significant improvement over past visits and we look forward to a return visit!

Absolutely delightful! My friend and I I always meet up there for lunch before the chamber music. The food is amazing and the setting just lovely!
Absolutely delicious brunch! The art is not the only reason to go to the museum. Will definitely be back!
For ~$90 a ticket, unfortunately a rough experience and would not recommend. Our server seemed extremely overwhelmed. Didn't get tea the first 45 minutes we were seated. Our tower was delivered to the wrong table and we had to ask our server when we would receive. Waited another 45 minutes and there was a missing item from the tower. Had to ask the manager twice and our server twice to bring the missing item. When the item was finally brought out, we were alerted they had given the wrong table the missing item.
I've been coming every year for several years now. This experience was not up to the usual level. I was honest with staff about it, and there were a number of mitigating circumstances (4 staff not showing up and a large party that came in 30 minutes early and insisted on a rush) that really impacted our experience this year. That said, they apologized and did everything they could to help. It's generally a great experience!
We had a lovely time at the Cafe before we went and walked the Museum. The coffee bar was excellent and the food was very tasty. The NCMA Café is an great choice for a relaxed & delicious meal.
