the place is very minimalistic, i like it as opposed to so many other ones in the area that are maximalist. the matcha is a different taste to what i expected, in a good way.

Where to begin with iris coffee lab? The ordering experience was streamlined, and there was ample indoor and outdoor seating. Unfortunately, this is probably because the chairs were the equivalent of sitting on a guitar pick. The rest of the decor similarly resembled a mid-century modern insane asylum. All this is child’s play compared to the drinks. I was hoping they would redeem the experience. I was rooting for you, iris coffee lab. The matcha left me wanting more. I couldn’t taste even a whisper of matcha flavoring, and the price was laughable for a glass of green milk. When my flat white arrived, I felt that twinkle return to my eye. Sadly, about 3 sips later, as I neared the end of my beverage I was shocked to discover a texture component I was not expecting. After a lot of contemplation, I have decided I am not a fan of coffee grounds swirling around my mouth. The customers are hip and trendy, the employees exceedingly friendly and speedy, the drinks bespoke and innovative, but I think we need to cut out the frills and go back to the basics. Why play 3D chess when you’ve yet to master tic tac toe? I think the experience was net neutral, but for how steep the pricing is, I feel it’s my duty to let the world know what they’re getting into.

I ordered the seasonal coconut drink because the mango sticky rice drink was out of stock. The portion size was very small for the price, which was over $7. It barely had any liquid and came with a giant cube of ice. They had run out of plastic cold to-go cups and gave me a hot beverage cup instead. The drink tasted sour, did not taste like coconut at all, and was not enjoyable. I would not order from here again.

I was really disappointed with my experience here. I ordered two cold brews and a lox bagel, and everything was just… incredibly mid — and somehow it all added up to nearly $30? The coffee tasted like mostly milk and ice, with barely any coffee flavor, and the bagel was bland and forgettable. I’d heard a lot of hype about this place, so I was expecting much better. Unfortunately, it just didn’t live up to the expectations.

The mango sticky rice Matcha was sensational. The breakfast bagels were fire, creative and fun deliciously executed, but my favorite thing has to be the pour over - It was fruity and citrusy and playful and so fun. Coffee like this..and one of the main reasons why I love specialty coffee… great work Iris, left feeling inspired!

Love this coffee shop! Their lattes are excellent and the staff members are very kind.
However, I do not recommend getting take out since the cups are flimsy and I was not offered a carrier. Long story short, lattes ended up spilling everywhere while I walked back to my apartment. Sadness. :(

Taste of the beverages is mid, less than mid. Drinks take 10 years to make despite having 6 people behind the counter. With no other orders ahead, an latte took 10 minutes. All drinks are one size (small) and run the price of a large at another shop.
