We had such a disappointing experience tonight. We walked in (didn’t realize we could make reservations) and waited about 30 minutes. As a family of four, we had requested either a Hugh or low top table. We ended up getting seated at the Sushi bar which is not somewhere you seat a family. We didn’t have any utensils, we had to ask. First time we got Togo items from another server. Second time we had to ask was after our food came. We tried to get a different table but the hostess wouldn’t do it. Our server was very nice and you can tell she felt bad, but she should could have provided better service. We were never once asked if we wanted something to drink. The food was good but our discomfort was not worth going out for. I would have rather eaten at home

I frequent this restaurant quite often. I normally get the seared salmon nigiri I love this place but I think they should lower the price for the salmon the miso soup with the clams is also great I recommend this place to all my friends overall good quality food but they do have weird hours and when they are busy the food quality may vary
Dietary restrictions: They do have gluten friendly options

I placed an online order on Valentine's day for pickup. This was clearly a popular idea and resulted in the restaurant being bombarded by more orders then they could handle. This was my very first experience eating Kai and honestly I'm very impressed. I did have to wait a fairly long time but the food I received was well worth the wait. I was nervous the quality and presentation might suffer due to the order volume but it did not. Ive learned my lesson not to order on a holiday but I will definitely be back.

Put in an online order at 10 AM for 7:15 PM. Waited in the store until 8:15 PM and the staff said they have no idea when my order would be ready or could even tell me the order that they are processing the online orders.. asked for a refund and was told they could not do it in the store and had to send a picture to somebody else to get the refund.

We've eaten here a few times over the past 4 years. They are always slow to seat you and serve you. However this time it was completely ridiculous. There must be 20 people waiting for to go food. We're going on 2 hours of waiting. We will not be back.

I love Kai but am very disappointed by my experience tonight. My online order was supposed to be ready at 6. After waiting almost an hour and attempting to get clarity about how much longer, I finally just got a refund and left. I understand being backed up but you should be able to communicate the delay and keep folks updated.
We have been loyal customers of Kai Sushi for several years, but our recent visit was the worst experience we've ever had at one of our neighborhood restaurants. A toddler at a nearby table was completely out of control for the entire duration of our dinner. The child was hitting their parents, throwing a phone and menus, and causing a significant disturbance.
Despite the entire restaurant, including the manager, being aware of the situation, nothing was done to address it. When I approached the manager and asked if he could intervene, he simply stated that the family were customers too. While I understand that toddlers can have emotional outbursts, this situation was on a completely different level and was ruining our meal.
There are social norms that should be upheld in such situations. A simple check-in with the family to see if everything was okay could have made a difference. Unfortunately, the lack of action from the management has left us very disappointed. Based on this experience, we will not be returning.

My family has been coming here since the day this place opened. We’ve always loved the chefs, the sushi, and the incredible atmosphere. For years, Kai Sushi has been our go-to for every happy occasion—we just couldn’t get enough. But over the last few years, the service has steadily declined. It feels like no one truly cares about the patrons or the quality anymore. We’ve overlooked small mistakes in our orders time and time again, staying loyal despite the issues. However, this Valentine’s Day was the breaking point. I arrived just after 5 PM to place my pickup order in person, ensuring it was correctly entered into the system. Knowing it would be a busy night, I wasn’t concerned about the wait. I double-checked everything with the staff (their written order with my contact information), confirmed the hour-and-a-half wait time, and left, trusting it would be handled. When I returned at 7 PM, I was told my order had never been entered. Worse yet, I was informed that if I placed another order, the chefs likely wouldn’t prioritize it. The pickup area was chaotic—staff had no idea which orders belonged to whom. The customer behind me was also told his order wasn’t in the system, but when he checked, he found it sitting on a table among a dozen other unclaimed bags. To be clear, the young man I spoke with was kind and patient, but he was powerless in the situation. After waiting as long as I could, I finally gave up and ordered from another restaurant. That’s 12 years of loyalty—12 years of raving about this place—gone. The lack of structure and overwhelmed staff make it impossible to receive a quality order on time, or at all. Jay, I truly hope you figure this out because, for now, I’m moving on to new sushi spots.

We dined in the restaurant, therefore, signed our receipts by hand and after leaving my tip was increased to 32%. Luckily my credit card flagged it and notified me. Watch out for scams

My best friend and I came here and got the Miso soup and three different rolls. They were all absolutely delicious. We got the Crazy K, Hidden dragon and Screaming O. Our waiter stated he’s only been employed for a month and he was also friendly and helpful. Everything was perfect.

The food was just alright—good variety, but the rice was cold and a bit too salty. The server clicked the '20%' tip button on the payment screen, even though I was only there to pick up the food. It didn’t register with me until I left the store after paying.
I’ve never encountered a place where the server clicks the tip button when I’m just picking up the food. Why would I pay a $10 tip for takeout? They definitely lost a customer over $10. I won’t be coming back.

It was a tiny bit warm inside but nothing that made us too uncomfortable. The food and service was excellent. Establishment and bathrooms were clean and had cute decorations. Prices are very reasonable.
