Great empanadas. Got the Makus Meal with 3 empanadas and a side. Ham & Cheese was my favorite, but chicken & spinach were both very good. Will return.

Terrible health safety. The man taking orders and heating/serving the empanadas wears the same gloves to handle the pagers used to notify customers that their food is ready then goes back to handle the empanadas. Watched him do this with my order and several others. I asked him to change his gloves a few times and he just laughed at me.

Yummy empanadas. Gluten free available for making at home or eating fresh, but the fresh have potential for cross-contamination and take about 20 minutes to be prepared.Dietary restrictions: Be aware that if you order gf empanadas, they take about 20 minutes from ordering to be ready, and that they are prepared in the same convection (fan) oven as the glutenous empanadas. I was told that frozen packs of gluten-free empanadas to take home have no cross-contamination risk.

As far as Empanadas go, these were just OK. These were not bursting with flavor and they were kind of small. The dough was good, but not great. I like a flakier "shell" so maybe that's why I wasn't a huge fan. OK is just 3 stars.I live in Florida where there are many different kinds of empanadas, and out of all of the ones I've had, these Makus ones were the smallest. The chimichurri sauce was good though.

Today I went to Makus Empanadas, and was sorely disappointed. I don’t write bad reviews just for the sake of it. But this was hands down truly terrible. The woman taking my order either didn’t want to be there, or was just miserable. Took my order and didn’t offer to purchase a drink or anything, and when I asked she just pointed at the drink selection to my right in a manner that suggested I was stupid for even asking. She just wanted to end the transaction is what it felt like. Okay, no big deal.I order 2 chicken & 2 beef empanadas. They came out relatively fast. I had forgotten to mention that it was a to-go order, and while I was grabbing my food, the woman working was assisting another person with a to-go order. She was being extremely short with him, and was just trying to get him to go away is how it appeared. She was worrying about doing several other things while barely giving this person the proper attention they needed. Regardless, that’s not the main issue with my order. I just wanted to point out what terrible customer service took place. When I had an opportunity to ask for a to-go box, she just walked in the back without acknowledging or even looking at me. I didn’t know whether she had even heard me or not. She came back with a box, but the whole thing just felt awkward and dismissive. I understand people have bad days, but you’re a grown adult don’t need to have a bad attitude with other people. Especially if they’re being polite to you first. My next issue was the food. I really wanted it to be good. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. These empanadas, first of all, are absurdly small. Second, these are way overpriced for the small amount I got. I paid about $20 for four empanadas and a can of coke. Third, the taste is terrible. The beef definitely wasn’t fresh, and I can’t even tell you how the chicken tasted since it was absolutely doused in spice. Both of them were. Adding spiciness to the dish just for the sake of spiciness is not a good thing. It drowns out all the flavors of the rest of the food. I’m no food connoisseur, but I would’ve been better off going to the grocery store and buying a bottle of Tabasco and drinking it for lunch. The chimichurri sauce was excellent. Maybe the only saving grace of it all.To conclude, I’m highly disappointed in both the food and the service. I’m all for small businesses surviving and being supported, but this place doesn’t deserve any good recognition. I’d be happy to reconsider my review if this place improves in the future, and I hope it does. Please take this review into consideration and do better.Regards.

I love the empanadas here, you can’t go wrong with anything you order! Makus is located within Morgan Street Food Hall, and is a great option for lunch, dinner, or even just a snack. The staff was great and the empanadas are phenomenal!

I used to like Makus. I want to say this place has been there since Morgan Food Hall first opened. The flavor for the most part remains good but just nothing amazing, especially not for the size and price of each empanada. I feel like the filling is much smaller as well. The sauces aren't free with each empanada (0.75/ small sauce). Didn't quite help that the girl taking my order absolutely didn't feel like serving me or anyone else really.

The 4 different empanadas I tried all lacked flavor. The rice and beans were also bland. They are also selling purchased packaged cookies as their own and repacking them in their bags.

This is our second time here.Today we ordered a kids meal which consists of an empanada, cookie and a drink.I ordered a pork and chimichurri empanada. The empanadas are small and it can have more flavor. The sauce was very oily.Service is fast but being Colombian my expectations are high. Not sure I will be back..

Great empanadas, specially like the beef and pork ones. Paired well with rice and beans and chimichurri sauce.

Friendly service and good - but not great - empanadas. Reasonably priced for the area.

Service was good, but empanadas not so much. I ordered sweet corn, chicken, and pork chimichurri. No distinctive flavor difference other than clearly you could tell when you were eating the sweet corn empanada. The chicken and pork chimichurri didn’t have much flavor either so nothing to boast about in my opinion and for almost $4/each I expected way better
