Very tasty fried chicken, mac & cheese, collards, and butter beans. Apple pie was exceptional. Friendly service. Small, country diner with downhome cooking. Reasonable prices.

Great place for breakfast and lunch. They have many fairly priced options to choose from. The decor is pretty and more of an old school style, and the staff members were kind as well.

There were seven of us visiting from out of town who aren't good at planning ahead so we just wandered in off the street and 3 in the afternoon and not only were they able to accommodate us with only a few minutes wait but it was still brunch time! Our server was very personable. I didn't get her name but she said she had only been working there a few weeks. Her personality, along with some killer Biscuits and Gravy made our visit to Raleigh even better!

A great little place to grab some breakfast/ brunch. Food was a hearty sized breakfast that was tasty and had a side of order of fruit that was fresh and delicious.. my omelet was perfect Everyone was nice and checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed and they were fast getting our food out. The service was great .. it's a small place that has been a restaurants since I believe 1937 and it gave me the vibes of an old drugstore with the counter you could sit at along with a few booths.. the ambiance is a bit off of the norm and I loved that.. we liked it so much we went 2 days in a row to eat while in Raleigh

This was my first time here. I really wanted to like the food but I am underwhelmed. My chicken was undercooked and slimy. I really hope I don't get sick after biting into it. The greens only had a slight acidic flavor... No seasoning. I could tolerate the mashed potatoes and gravy. On the other hand, the staff were very nice and welcoming. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the special of the day... Lemon and herb chicken of some sort.

Genuinely LOVED this little place! The menu isn’t extravagant and to be honest, I ate the same thing both times I visited. Point is; I was in out of town and this was the ONLY restaurant I tried more than once! The pancakes were fluffy AF, the bacon was crispy, and they kept the coffee coming! The staff was also friendly and a good vibe. Definitely recommend!

The service was good. The grilled cheese was a standard American grilled cheese, standard American coffee.

Pros: Casual historic dive bar feel, old timey humble atmosphere, you might feel you are in the oldest restaurant in Raleigh (you are, btw). I sat at the bar and the staff was welcoming, casual, very personable. Allie is a genuine, happy personality and ask Nick about his story! Glorified jumbo cheeseburger and (lots of) fries were tasty. They apologized for my delayed meal with a free beer.Cons: Value. The “jumbo” burger is truly glorified… there’s actually nothing jumbo about it. The burger is fairly thin and the plate is 75% fries, still costing $14.50. And extra charge for a slice of tomato? That’s a pretty standard burger topping.
