Mum's Jamaican Restaurant

I love Jamaican food I’m all about Supporting black businesses. I truly hate that I don’t live in Charlotte anymore because there’s no legit Jamaican spots here. The first time I went, I got the large soup $16. I thought that was a little crazy but it’s whatever let’s try. Today I got a medium soup nine dollars, and it was nothing but broth, a bone and half a piece of corn. I called you know to let them know and of course she stayed at oh I know when I made your soup because she knows who I am not sure how but I know I put me in your soup. No, you didn’t. Just wow.

Very rude customer service. First and last time going. They pick and choose who they are friendly too. Well I will pick and choose where I spend my money.

My dog would have offered better hospitality. They also monitor your activities in the bathroom. I Would have taken serious legal action against them but maybe it’s part of their habits back at home so i let it go. But it’s very important to not act uncivilized in civilized places that just shows how narrow minded you are.

I already don’t have much faith in Raleigh restaurants — most are trash with even worse customer service — but I stopped here out of necessity. I had to take a shit, and they have a customers-only bathroom policy. I was turtling, so I had no choice but to grab something to eat.

While I was in the bathroom, I saw dead roaches on the floor. That alone told me everything I needed to know. I get it — older buildings have moisture and pest issues — but this looked neglected, not maintained.

The staff were lifeless and clearly didn’t want to be there. Not rude, just uninterested — the type better suited for the back, not customer-facing roles.

Then came the food. Completely flavorless. The rice was so overcooked it was basically mush, and the mac and cheese tasted like the bland stuff from a Banquet TV dinner. I tried three or four bites, bit into some gritty texture that turned my stomach, and called it quits.

To top it off, the plate was nearly $20 — for mushy rice, bland mac, and basic chicken. Absolutely not worth it. Between the filth, the vibe, and the food, this place is straight-up trash

The Mum's jerked chicken was on point! Every bite full of flavor and the sauces included enhanced everything that much more! Fantastic job to the Mum's crew! This is what I was craving and yall did not disappoint. Anytime I visit Raleigh, I'll be coming to Mum's!

I had the oxtails with rice & beans and greens, everything was good hot and fresh

Update I went back recently and it's NOT the same...cocky lady with attitude..food salty as hell with no real flavor..and the plate was 30 dollars..never again Krusty is way better and they're respectful and humble

I got there when the restaurant opened. The food (rice and jerk chicken) was very dry. Probably the worst jamaican food I've eaten. Very disappointing.

The patty and coco bread was hot and fresh but di small soup was too likkle fi $5 oh god man. I literally got 1/8 of a corn in an 8oz cup 😭🤣 do better man please because the soup is delicious!

Price doesn't reflect portions,rice and peas was mushy. Bought oxtail,but there was other pieces of beef in there along with some oxtail. Oxtail has distinctive bones,so you can't fool me. That's cheating rhe public,and dor that ,I will not be going back.

The food its good ..but I ordered Stew chicken with plantains.. they gave me plenty plantains but 3 small piece of chicken only bones i got.. dispppointed !

Food was trash all the drinks I grabbed was on point beef patties was old and dry rice and oxtail gravy was mid give this experience a 6 out of 10
