We went to Oro for the second time last night, 2/14/26. The food and service was absolutely as delicious as it was the first time. Please don’t listen to the other reviews about the food not being good! Maybe they had something I haven’t tried. We had the tempura cauliflower, brussel sprouts, grilled romaine, pork chop and Mack and cheese. Perfection! My tropical mocktail was divine!
The only cons were, I wish there were center table options for vegetarians. . And our seating lacked ambience. We were seated in one the 4 set of 2 seat tables near the kitchen. We really couldn’t talk to each other without the couples next to us hearing us. We did meet some great couples next to us. So close we should have pulled the tables together and had a big party lol We asked the hostess could we change tables to the upstairs area but she said seats were assigned. We would have paid extra for a separate table for Valentine’s Day lol Enjoyed it and look forward to coming back again when it’s not so busy and can choose or maybe have a better option for seating.
This was a nice place, nice ambience and friendly staff. The service was the greatest, we were running late to our first reservation for 5pm and they were able to accommodate and allow us to change to a later time that was available. That was much appreciated. The food was tasty as well. We ordered the meal that was $75 per person, it specifically stated best for 6 people, however there was not even 6 pieces of anything for these shared entrees, or appetizers should I say. It was Valentine’s Day I was going to order the surf and turf and the waitress advised me that they could add one of the entrees of our choosing, which I stated I would love a steak, therefore came to the decision not to get the surf turf. I also asked the waitress where the steak was once our meal was complete (each entree is brought out one by one) the waitress proceeded to tell me they were out of steak, yet I was charged the full price. Below is the pictures of the meal that we paid $75 per person for, that was meant to feed 6 people. I understand this is supposed to be fine dining, I just wish I would have walked away feeling like I got my money’s worth, but it feels more like a ripoff off. (This is all the food that was brought out) 3 crab cakes, a bowl of lobster ravioli , a pile of noodles with 3 scallops, 4 dumplings with a sprinkle of oxtail meat inside, pork belly, bowl of fried cauliflower and a hunk of lettuce with sauce and bacon, to feed 6 people? And it was one plate of each for 2 people. Not trying to knock the business, just want to inform others so they are not surprised, and left feeling how we felt.

Me and my Girlfriend went for valentine’s day, I ordered the oxtail potstickers and lamb chops. The potstickers were cold, and chewy. Lamb chops were overcooked and bland. My girlfriend ordered The New York strip and truffle mac and cheese. They didn’t cook the New York strip to how she wanted, and the mac and cheese was the most bland thing i’ve ever tasted. My Girlfriend also ordered a sweet tea and we had to send it back immediately it tasted so chalky. When we told the server he knew it was like that and it wasn’t made correctly but he still gave it to her then charged me for another drink. Only thing we did like was the smores and that’s only because the chefs didn’t have to cook anything. Also very loud in there and i had to ask my server to repeat everything he said as well as the host. We spent $150 NOT worth it.
PS: takes VERY long to get your food

At best a 4 to me. Was so warm upstairs, not comfortable and relaxing. Asked to turn down the heat, waiter said he would try but was not sure he could. Waiter was awesome. Food was very good, but not work the price. Small plates, bigger than Tapas, smaller than entree size, but all for entree size pricing. Was hoping for a blown away experience as I had heard great things. Very good, not great, and great was needed for what we are paying. drinks are also very pricey, glass of wine was $5-6 less than the bottle in many cases.
also reservation was done as a birthday, and hostess did not have it or say anything, so waiter had no clue til we noted it later on during some side convo. Again - waiter was very good.

I was expecting more from this restaurant. This was our first time visit and we were seated next to the windows that extremely cold and the area was very dark. I wanted to try several items on the menu and they came out one at a time and the items started to get cold due to the draft within minutes. I couldn't even stay for dessert. The waiter was nice and enthusiastic but I would of preferred better appearal for an upscale restaurant. I was excited to get the ribeye because of the tenderness but it was extremely tough. In all, it's a nice environment and the sides were good.

We went for restaurant week. The drinks were pretty pricey for a very small amount. The appetizer was creative and tasty. The lamb shank entrée was flavorful. The carrot cake was moist. It was made with walnuts which I did not enjoy. The churros were delicious. I'll have to come again and order from the regular menu but skip the over priced cocktails.

Great place to dine in downtown Raleigh! It is a small plate European style restaurant. So, as the food finishes in the kitchen it is brought out right away. It doesn't wait for every meal to get done. This means it comes out hot. They have s large variety of creative meal and drink choices! The experience is well with it!

We have been here several times and it never disappoints. We got several small plates. The ones I loved the most are the grilled Romaine lettuce, the dumplings, and the beef Wellington. The charcuterie tray is always a big hit in my family. Cory, our waiter, is so funny and always does such a great job! He is awesome! The dessert I loved the most is the chocolate dome with caramel and ice cream. I highly recommend ORO!

I’m not one to do reviews but had to write about The wonderful food I had at ORO. Had the sea bass and short rib, so delish. Also had grilled lettuce salad, yummy flavors and that dressing!! My drink was Plum is the Word, it was delivered with smoke and in a cage. The plum flavor with the chamomile herbs blended perfectly. A sweet drink but not too sweet. My desert was the Chocolate Dome. Very Unique presentation and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m not a brownie person so I skipped that part but the chocolate sauce and the chocolate shell mixed with the fruit was so good and without the brownie was not super sweet. This restaurant is all about flavor, artfully crafted dishes and unique presentations.

What an amazing display of creativity and culinary extravagance. It’s almost like a tapas Place with amazing servers. Beautiful feud craft made cocktails and beautiful atmosphere. What else could you ask for whether you’re just a little bit hungry. A lot of hungry. You can make it all work. Especially if you ask your well informed waiter or waitress what they suggest would be the best adventure for you and your crew.
