I was very disappointed in the chef's inability to prepare my lambchops well done as requested. When I initially placed my order, I asked that they be cooked well. As I began to slice my lambchops, I immediately noticed pink and a bit of blood. The wait person took them back to the kitchen, and when he returned with them, they were burnt and tasted burnt. I always order my lambchops well done and have never expected this.
Server Savannah was awesome. Some of the food didn't measure up as advertised. Bone marrow had more duck in it than bone barrow.
An amazing experience. Every dish we had was spectacular. The cauliflower...the scallops....10/10
My out of town guest was highly impressed with this restaurant. I've been several times for my birthday. Our waiter Corey was excellent answering all our questions and making accommodating recommendations. He complimented my date on his attire. You can tell he truly enjoys serving at this great establishment. He even brought out my bday dessert (sorbet) with a candle making the night even better.
I had this experience at the end of 2022, but it still bothers me, so I’ve decided to leave a review.
I was unable to make a reservation for my party of 12 online, so I booked three separate reservations for groups of four. When we arrived, I explained the situation to the host, who went to speak with the manager. The host returned and informed us that they could seat us together, but only if we placed everything on one card, which we agreed to. However, after another conversation with the manager, the host came back and added a new condition: a $60 minimum spend per person. This was never mentioned initially, which felt misleading. Since we only planned to have drinks and appetizers, we declined and had to sit separately.
Hoping for some flexibility, we asked our waiter if we could move the tables together or at least pull up an extra chair. He checked with the manager and came back with a firm “no.” The most frustrating part? The entire time we were there, a table large enough to accommodate our group remained open.
To add to the disappointment, it was my birthday, and my friend brought a cake. When they asked if we could bring it in, they were told there would be an exorbitant fee per person—so they decided to save the cake for later. (For contrast, we went to Brewery Bhavana afterward, where they had no issue with the cake. Highly recommend checking them out if you're looking for great food in the area.)
Now, for the positives: the food and drinks were excellent. I ordered the truffle mac and cheese, a duck dish, and a cocktail with stunning presentation—everything was absolutely delicious. However, the poor customer service completely overshadowed the experience. At a restaurant of this caliber, I expect better communication and a higher standard of hospitality, especially given the price point. Instead, it seemed like they were more concerned with maintaining an exclusive image than providing quality service.
I doubt I’d return, at least not with a group—and definitely not for a special occasion. Maybe just for a drink, but even that feels unlikely.

I had the opportunity to dine at Oro for the first time recently, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The ambiance was cozy, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive, which made us feel welcomed right from the start. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, tempura cauliflower, Calamari, mixed potatoes, and lamb pops, all were delicious and packed with flavor. Overall, I was impressed by the food quality and service. I would definitely return for another visit to explore more of the menu and give it another try!
I came to the restaurant with my cousin and her small daughter with the anticipation of enjoying a good meal, as neither of us had been here before. We were sat at a table and settled in. When looking over the menu, it wasn't what we necessarily had an appetite for and it wasn't child appropriate. We decided that we would leave and even said to one another that we would come back and patronize the restaurant at another time. There was no food ordered. Only water was poured into the glasses that we never drank out of. As we were leaving, the gentleman who was wearing a purple shirt (this visit was on 3/19/25) came across as condescending. Im not sure if he was the manager/owner but either way, our interaction with him secured the fact that we will NOT be coming back ever again. He made a face as though he had something to say about us leaving. I addressed him about making the face as it was not customer friendly nor inviting. I told him that we were leaving because the menu wasn't kid friendly. He said "I have items for kids". I responded that it wasn't on the menu. His response was "You didn't ask...". Now this interaction was had in the middle of the restaurant as other patrons were there. My cousin and I felt like his face and words were judgmental and honestly just discouraged us from wanting to come back.

We enjoyed the calamari, brussel sprouts, jerk chicken, scallops, and mushroom carbonara. All were delicious and our waiter was amazing. The presentation of some of the dishes and cocktails is above and beyond. Although everything was good, it is quite expensive and I'm not sure it's fully worth the price.
The food is pretty good. But the service was not. Our waitress could not have cared less about what we needed. The whole place smelled like a fish fry. Also pretty pricey. Our dinner w 15% tip was over $150 for 2 ppl who only had 1 drink ea. because it took half an hr to get our first. For the money, theres just so many better choices in downtown Raleigh. Will not be going back.

We had a blast here! Cocktail presentation was next level and all very tasty. We really enjoyed the different small plates.. especially the different fish (sea bass) and vegetable plates (brussel sprouts!) . We didn't love the jerk chicken, it was a little too spicy for us wimpy palates.

We had the pleasure of being served by Daniel! We came for restaurant week and had the special menu! All 3 courses were delicious, but the highlight was the grilled romaine salad! Everyone was awesome and friendly, the atmosphere was top notch and I will most definitely be coming back, but for their regular menu. Thank you Daniel and thank you Oro for making my mother's birthday dinner special!!! <3
Must.
I had an anniversary dinner here and it was fantastic. Good wine, cocktails, food, service, vibe, price, location.
I’d love to come back.
