90 min after open to play any real music. Begging for tips to play anything. Sounded like really bad karaoke when they did play. Worst money spent this year. Go to Pete’s in Austin to learn how to run a Dueling Piano Bar.

“You know what’s weird… We recently fired a guy and he went to work at Pete’s in Austin. I’m SURE this review is purely coincidental 🙄 but you should go see him. 😉”
THIS is exactly what you get when you go here. Same attitude from just about every employee we interacted with. We had a reservation for 15 people at opening. Sat at the tables on the left just past the hostess desk.
As far as Austin, it is pure coincidence. I’ll have to see if I can track them down when I’m there next. I travel to Austin for work often and have been going to Pete’s for years. Never once been to PLUS because I don’t really go out with clients in Raleigh. No clue anybody from here worked there. My comment was based solely on my experience. They just play good music, accept requests as they come in, with tips of course but never once do they mention tips. Last night felt almost predatory. Some of the things we heard “The band doesn’t make money by you just walking in the door, you have to tip”. And “better tips get songs played sooner, for example a $20 tip is going to get played before a $10 song”.
And the worst part was that they were really terrible. Johnny B Goode sounded like bad karaoke and Sweet Caroline was the worst I’ve ever heard. We didn’t even recognize it at first.
Oh, by the way. You should update your website that has food menu since you don’t have food anymore. We had to DoorDash some Chick-fil-A because we came prepared to eat.
All 15 of us concur, we won’t be back. And I’m the only one that’s been to Pete’s.
It was excellent. We had a really great night.
They are so extremely talented it’s amazing.
Great staff from the door to the bar
And everything in between.
The band is amazing. 10/10
Amazing experience, nice music and really romantic atmosphere
Recommended!
I cannot rate the food bc we ate before we arrived. The service rating was on the lady that brought our wine and came back about 2-3 times to check on us....
The atmosphere was DEFINITELY NOT my type of atmosphere...
However it seems like people were having a great time.
We had reservations and there was a mix up (on their end) but it was figured out. The table was set up for us-decorations, jello shots in a syringe and water and wine (I am 🚭 a drinker but the group I was with are so they enjoyed it -no complaints).
They asked if people were celebrating anything and only asked half of the room... Totally ignored the other half-possibly because it was so dark, he didn't see the other half of the room....??? IDK.
The event started at 7:47 (which was ok I guess since the website says it starts between 7:30-8:00- not sure why there is a 30 minute window ).
The piano player pretty much stated he won't play songs without being paid (money with your slip).... AND the slip with the most money will have their song played over the slip with the least amount of money... That was wrong!!!
To me, a piano bar is soft/light music (preferably Jazz) in a nice place with soft lights and ever at their OWN table enjoying each other somewhat quietly...
This is not the place for that... LOL. If my reference is your preference... Don't go!
HOWEVER, if you like loud music and customers, 2 piano players and a drum player... This is the place for you.
The person I was with said the food was good as she has been there before.
I am not giving a negative rating because I honestly didn't stay long. I just knew this was not for me. Too many negatives for me to return. BUT, TRY IT, YOU MAY LIKE IT. Lol
the best bar with live music on glenwood avenue! just loved it
What a great place to celebrate your birthday!!!
The best place to celebrate birthday parties. I intend to always come back.
Best bar on glenwood ave!!!
It was the best wings I ever had, and the door girl Brandy was so sweet and welcoming and made the experience so much better. 10/10 would recommend

Had so much fun! Everyone was amazingly talented. Our server, Sam, was as wonderful and adorable! Jon Jon stole the show! A great time was had by all.
Way over priced drinks .
Usually too crowded for the space
The entertainment expects far too much for tips & generally do repetitive , boring , corny songs.
Not worth a cover charge either.
OK for a gathering not my first choice for a night out.
A really fun concept for a bar with good food options!
First time piano bar experience, and it did not disappoint. Counting down the days to go back.
Highly recommended! Lots of fun and very entertaining! Filled with talented singers and musicians, you won't be disappointed.
