I'm a Pitt Co girl that's very familiar with the OG, Skylight Inn. Of course this time around I got the original slaw, bbq, and slab cornbread. Appetizer was pimento and pork skins. Dessert, banana pudding which my friend danced and eyes rolled back over. The bbq wasn't quite the same, but just as dang good! Sam is killing it in the family business. He knows his way around the pit and the sides. The reviews knocking the slab corn bread jus didn't grow up on the good stuff!! Next time try to get a corner đ€€đ€€đ€€đ€€

I had the 1lb rib plate with loaded baked potato,mac n cheese with a sweet potato muffinâŠ{i did order off DoorDash if that matters}
The potato was literally just a plain baked potato wasnât even cut open, the ribs only had smoked flavor⊠no other flavor but the smoke and they was chewy/tough⊠i only ate one rib because i was tired of chewing⊠im a fan of competition bbq so the tenderness im looking for is that⊠the Mac and cheese was really good tho⊠the sweet potato muffin was dry and bunt and tasted like that⊠the pricing is bad the portions isnât bad but the quality could definitely be better

I have to be honest, after reading the positive reviews, I had high expectations.. unfortunately, they were not fulfilled. The cornbread was absolutely horrible in my opinion. It reminded me of 4 day old pizza reheated in a microwave. It was so dry. I did enjoy the coleslaw, the Mac and cheese and chips werenât anything spectacular, same with the pulled pork.

The food is great and the atmosphere is wonderful. It's a great downtown spot.
Only complaint about this location is, the employees should be more attentive to take out to ensure customers will receive their orders, instead of pretending to be so busy. I eventually just grabbed my order, because all the employees turned and did other things after I had been standing there for 15 minutes.

Ordered for pickup and the food was ready in about 5m, that was about the only positive.
BBQ was dry and without flavor. Cornbread was solid with no moisture to it. Ribs were ok but nothing to write home about.
Talking to other friends after this experience I am not alone. Sometimes the food is good and other times its below average. I expected more based on the hype. And even without the hype there are tons of average or good bbq spots that will get my business going forward. I hope the owners do something to correct the food quality.
