Chopped BBQ plate with some of their vinegar sauce was fantastic, as was the side of baked beans. Brisket sandwich (with sweet sauce) was pretty good; potato salad and mac & cheese were both above average; sweet potato muffin wasn't horrible, but I think it came from a bad batch. I'm confident that when I visit again and try other sides, I'll find something else I enjoy as much as the beans to go with my chopped BBQ.
Ordering takes place at the counter, but the line usually moves pretty quick (mostly subject to the speed of other customers), so I'd suggest either opening up the online menu when getting in line or grabbing one of the handheld menus first. Service is friendly and fast. Great location on the (current) edge of downtown near the convention center and amphitheatre.

Incredible atmosphere and service super fast.
Pulled pork was average at best. Little to not smoke flavor, semi dry, and lacking in seasoning.
Ribs were the star of the show. Good bite, slight smoke, really good flavor.
Smoked chicken was great too. Surprisingly not leathery skin like lots of smoked chicken are, juicy inside. Good salt levels.
Baked beans tasted like it was just sitting in ketchup.
Mac and cheese lacking flavors, very one dimensional with the cheese they used.
Sauces must be NC style, with their sweet red tasting mostly like a vinegary ketchup, and their vinegar sauce. No deeper BBQ sauce.

The food was good, it wasnt what I expected. The cornbread was a bit disappointing. He was hard and cold. Almost like it was made days before. It was very dense. I think it was made without flour. Like corn pone. The collards were good and the mac and cheese was good. We also got beans and potatoe salad and they were good as well. I got the choice of two meats and two sides. I got smoked turkey and chicken (white). I got beans and mac and cheese as my sides. I order an extra collards as a side and I think they charge an extra $.69 for the collards. The collards are seasoned with pork. Everyone that had the ribs said they were good. We had the hand-made potatoe chips they were good as well. The fries were good. The prices were pretty good. I really liked the atmosphere but it could be a little hard to navigate with a bunch of people there.

Been many times. Got take out last night and it was anything but the norm. Should have gone to Smithfields. I am from Eastern NC and what I had last night was really bad. Maybe day or two old - who knows but not a good experience at all. Hope they improve but not sure I will go back.

Had to feed about 15 people for an event. They were very helpful when placing the order and the food was really good. The turkey was my favorite. Everyone was satisfied.

We had dinner here before the John Legion concert. The catfish bites were delicious 😋. My niece had the smoked turkey, with greens and mac and cheese. She loved it. Would definitely recommend eating here. Reminded me of City BBQ or Macs Speed Shop.

Nice atmosphere just to enjoy. Kind of like a sports bar kind of vibe. We both took food home. Seemed busy but the line flowed.

Andrea with Offline - Came here on a Thursday night for dinner. It was very easy to order at the counter. The environment was very friendly, and the options for food were a lot ! We had the chicken tenders and the two meat platter with the barbecue pulled pork and ribs. All of the food was delicious and it came out super quick! Can’t wait to come back and try the loaded baked potato.

As someone who grew up on Pete Jones BBQ (SKYLIGHT INN) and then fell in with Sam Jones in Winterville, I was happy when they expanded their location to Raleigh. However, the taste at this location isn’t the same as the one in Winterville. It’s kind of hit or miss. The coleslaw tastes very different. So many dark green leaves in it today that it tastes too bitter. The bbq and the Mac n cheese is ok. I think it’s satisfactory if you never experienced the Winterville location, or didn’t grow up on NC whole hog BBQ.

Amazing BBQ! We had a catering order and needed to pick it up earlier than scheduled. They accommodated us and were super nice! Thank you so much.
