Great service. Tasty & high quality food
I’ve always passed by Sushi O on Glenwood Ave and finally decided to try it out with a friend for dinner. This was my first time dining there. We chose to sit outside to enjoy the weather, and while the wait time was reasonable, we ran into an issue right away—there were a lot of cockroaches around the first outdoor table, which made us uncomfortable. We asked to move to another table, and the staff accommodated us.
We started with the fried calamari—it was just okay, nothing special. Our server was friendly and helpful throughout the meal. We ordered Coke, but it tasted flat, almost like it had no flavor. We also got soup, which turned out to be way too spicy for our taste, so we asked to swap our soups for something else.
We ordered sushi as our main course. Again, it was just fine—nothing bad, but not memorable either. The atmosphere outside was nice overall, especially if you want to relax with a drink and enjoy the street view, but the presence of bugs really took away from the experience.
One other downside is the parking—it’s very limited and hard to find a spot nearby.
In summary, Sushi O has a nice vibe and decent service, but the food and cleanliness (especially outdoors) need improvement. I might come back for drinks, but probably not for a full meal.
Consistent great service and food. Also if you park in the deck in the back of 222 building it's easy and they validate. Good for a date or a family night. Wide variety on menu
Ordered the General Tso lunch and Any 3 Classic Rolls lunch through UberEats. The sushi was fine, basically on par with grocery store sushi. Egg Drop soup it came with didn't have a ton of flavor. The General Tso chicken just tasted like a very citrusy orange chicken. No spice to it at all and it was overall a soggy consistency. The fried gyoza I got for free with my order was also just very middle of the road. Didn't transport well as a to-go item, as it was no longer crispy when it arrived. Overall I wasn't overly impressed with the food I got and wouldn't order from here again.
More like a 3.5, came here today just for the $5 martini specials they have on Thursdays. I've been here to eat before but not to drink. I sat at the bar I ordered 2 different martinis. First was the Tokyo cosmo second was the tsunami . They had the hostess making the drinks which was weird and he tried his best to make the cocktails but I'll admit I've had better martinis others places. It also was a bit warm in there considering it was a 90 degree day out. I may give them another try on another day with another drink special.
We cannot wait to come back! We started with a great French martini and spicy edamame. We then had a crab rangoon roll. It was crunchy on the outside and crab yummy on the inside. We had to order only 1 last roll because we had to have dinner with friends in 3 hours. So, which one? So many great options, I'd recommend you try for yourself!
Servers were friendly. We came at an odd time, so it wasn't busy. Most people were eating on the outside patio.
Parking can be a challenge. But who cares? We'll be back!
Rachel is amazing pay her more right now istfg.
This was our third or fourth time going to Sushi O and it had been SO good in the past. This time we noticed a significant drop off in the food and drinks. My favorite drink, the Lychee mojito was not good. I think maybe they forgot the lychee? The pan fried gyoza had more of a steamed texture. It wasn't bad...it just wasn't nearly as good as it had been.
Wonderful food and atmosphere, great service, have been many times and it's always consistent.
Great service. Love the sushi. My husband is not a sushi fan and loved the kung pao chicken. It was delicious. Great spot.

Enjoyed the variety of Asian cuisines. Sushi and sampling of Thai, Chinese and other regional dishes. My wife enjoyed her drink along with dinner. Well worth a visit!
Service was great! Food, drinks are always delicious!! This is my fav sushi spot in Raleigh. It never disappoints!!
I think their Open Table system was broken on Valentine's Day, 2/14/25. I was never sat even though I had a confirmed reservation. Upon arriving, there were no available tables and at least 5 parties waiting to be seated who also had reservations.
Booked a Valentine reservation for my wife who loves sushi. We arrived and the line was out the door. No staff checking people in. The staff did, however, decide to complain that people were holding the door open and letting the cold air in. We waited 15 minutes after our reservation was supposed to start, saw no progress and decided to bail. If you want sushi on Glenwood, go to Sushi Blues.
We have always liked Sushi-O. The restaurant has great food and, during normal times, decent service. However, this review is about a time of stress time, specifically Valentine's Day of 2025. There was a missed opportunity by management to mitigate flow into the restaurant. Our reservation was at 7:15pm but we came early. I'm glad we did because 5 other groups showed up for the same reservation time. Our reservation also wasn't verified (meaning theoretically, anyone could've claimed that time slot). Once we did get seated, we waited 25 minutes to be served (though I'll note the bus boy brought us water). We had the flag down a waitstaff member to be served. In fact, her had to flag her down several times during the evening to get proper service; she was apologetic given the circumstances. The saving grace of this evening was the food quality. The cooks did an excellent job with our egg drop soup orders, crab wontons (Rangoon), and sushi rolls. All was amazing. Had it not been for the waitress's demeanor, I would not have tipped and she missed out on a higher tip because of the slowness of service. The big takeaway for management here is: 1. develop a strategy for large nights. There is no reason to have waitstaff servicing random tables. They should've had dedicated sections. 2. I actually did witness an order (likely an appetizer) that I timed from being ready to being picked up by staff at roughly 11 minutes. This is not good and I would've rejected it had it been brought to my table. 3. Hold the hostess accountable to verify reservation times on the app if you are going to take them. That itself could've been disastrous (and likely was). Hopefully these things will be addressed. Thanks 😃
