They've been closed awhile now but I miss this spot terribly and wanted to mark it for the record. Such a warm, quaint, welcoming atmosphere, everyone greeted by the owner/sushi maker upon arrival. And the food was off the charts, very authentic. I love sushi but I'd love to see more expression of the full palate of Japanese foods at Japanese restaurants, and this place had it all. Thank you for your years of service and I hope you enjoy COVID-forced retirement. And reviewer Jeff S can take his whiny complaints to the Olive Garden -- probably more your speed and they should have plenty of red wine for you there, chump.

Sushi Tsune was my favorite sushi restaurant in Raleigh (and honestly probably my favorite restaurant overall). The sushi was traditional/classic (intentional ingredients and not covered in a ton of sauce) and all of the fish was fresh and very tasty. I also branched out and tried their Japanese dinner options and appetizers which were all delicious.Beyond the food, the atmosphere was very warm and inviting, with a unique area with two chabudai for a more authentic experience. The staff always remembered regulars and would ask how you’re doing. Sitting at the sushi bar, the Chef himself would talk to you while he made tons of items for all of his customers. All of this for a great value (large portions at modest prices) compared to other sushi restaurants in the area.Chef Tsune and staff, thank you so much! Getting Tsune on Friday nights before COVID and takeout so many times during lockdown will be sorely missed.

Best sushi in raleigh by far! Better than places I've been in San Francisco's Japantown

Has been a favorite of ours since moving to Raleigh in 2015, and you know it's legit because they would normally have quite a few Japanese patrons (from nearby Japanese companies) on any given weekend night (maybe weekdays too, we usually go on Fridays). Have now been a couple times since they opened up post-COVID. Very safe setup, they bring the food out to a little entry way inside the first set of doors, then leave the check in a little folder. You leave your credit card in the folder, and they bring it back to you. Big pump full of hand sanitizer on the table in case you use one of the pens they set out for signing your recipes. (I prefer to bring my own.) Food is nicely prepared and presented even for takeout. And of course, the sushi is excellent! Anyway, glad they're back open and look forward to supporting Chef Tsune and his team!

The best, freshest sushi in Raleigh- and the friendliest staff. They're open for takeout now (as of June 2020), and their setup is very safe and hands off.

My favorite restaurant in Raleigh. The best Japanese restaurant that I’ve been to in NC. My mouth is salivating just thinking about their Ten Don (my go-to meal). I have never eaten anything disappointing at this place. Everything is delicious, I kid you not. You have to be there early to get a seat. Lovely intimate setting and the staff is AMAZING. We especially love Lee, she’s the best! If you haven’t been to this place, you are missing out on a gem!
