Was just hungry for a small kids chicken finger order. Literally would not let me order it since I wasn’t 10. Messed up!
Dietary restrictions: Cannot order kids portions above age 10.

I want to break this down into good and bad to make it easier for everyone. Pros: The food was very good. Obviously this isn't a high end restaurant, but the food is definitely a step above a normal fast food or fadt diner/Cafe style meal. My table had a burger, the philly steak sandwich, and a BLT. The Burger was very good, with a thorough cooking while remaining juicy. The BLT was average (more in cons) and the philly meat was good but utilized yellow american cheese, which diminished the flavor. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft inside, which added a good texture to all three dishes. The staff was friendly and for how busy it was, the atmosphere was clean and well kept. Cons:the BLT had no where near enough tomato. It seemed to be mostly on just one half of the sandwich. The philly, as stated, used yellow american cheese (like the kraft singles kind) that didn't melt well onto the meat. A provolone or even a white american would have given a much better flavor to this sandwich (and made it more authentic). The burger was a bit under seasoned, but the condiments were able to spice it up enough not to worry. The overall restaurant was a bit on the rough side. The way you order had no structure, as you had to stand in a line just randomly made up by the customers. We were cut in front of by two different people because there was no actual line area. The line itself also backed right into people eating, so the limited indoor space was even more cramped because many didn't want to eat while people stood a foot away ordering food. The staff was friendly, but the actual feel of this place was that it was not thought up well to handle a rush spawned from a free museum attached to it. We went during the astronomy days, which had hundreds of kids and people from universities/clubs presenting. This means even more people showing up for an already normally busy museum. This place was clearly not set up for that amount of people. D All that being said, during the summer I'm sure it's a bit better as the outdoor seating more than likely will help spread everyone out. But, there are way too many events here during the times people can't eat outside. It's a good place but for the price, a little seasoning would have been welcomed.
It was alright, and the food was mediocre at best

I like the daily planet ! The place, food and the peple who works there are nice !
The reason I gave it 3 stars is because some of the hot drinks are extremely bad ! For example the hot chai tea latte is so bad ! Tried it twice ! Please use the same ingredient recipe ike Starbucks, Panerbread etc for the chai tea latte.. It is too Sweet and has a weird test.

Fast in, fast out. Perfect place to grab a drink or a bite to eat if you’re in downtown Raleigh. Very close to the government center and basically on the same block as the museum. Fair prices, too.

listen. this isn’t your run-of-the-mill museum dining experience, ok? I got a fried chicken sandwich that was delightfully crisp, paired with a tangy slaw and a bit of a kick. It was better than your average fast food chicken sandwich, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and size of the portion. Also, the environs are awesome with an airy vibe and large windows for views onto the street. The gift shop is just a stones throw from the dining area, and even when it’s busy it doesn’t feel crowded. The plates and cutlery add to the quality of the experience. Now, I will say the only person who spoke to me was the cashier and the employees don’t seem necessarily thrilled to be there, but it didn’t dampen my experience. Good spot for a bite either before or after a museum visit, definitely recommend it!

Took our grandson to the NC Museum of Science, and decided to go ahead and make it simple by doing lunch there. Didn't have much of an expectation for the Daily Planet, but have to admit I was surprised. I expected simple burgers, hot dogs, chicken nuggets and fries. But they actually go well beyond that. This is the type of place you might actually go to lunch at, without hitting the museum. In any event, I had The Daily Planet BLT, which was surprisingly large, and very good. My wife went with the cucumber salad side. She thought it would be a little bigger, but then again, it was only a side. But she did like it. And the grandson went simple PBJ....can't mess that one up. We'll do it again sometime I'm sure, since he loved the museum.
Nice spacious restaurant and friendly staff, and the chicken BLT is a winner!

Cafe next to the museum, which makes it convenient. Good options for breakfast or lunch (lunch), with good variety and good flavor. All packaging is sustainable (plus point) and the service is good. When we went we had a cashier with a bad attitude (impatient and waiting for us to know how the place works, when it was our first time) but the rest of the staff were all very friendly and attentive. Highly recommended

The mixed berry and feta salad was good and reasonably priced, but I didn’t expect to have to remove pieces of wilted lettuce and a random piece of shredded cheese.

This place was amazing! We took our group of 17 kids and 9 adults to the Capitol and decided to eat here. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Our train was delayed and we had to keep pushing back our scheduled pick up time and it was no issue at all to the wonderful workers.
The food was amazing!
We definitely plan to eat here again on our next trip to the city.
Kid-friendliness: The kids with us enjoyed how many different options the kids menu had. They especially loved that the meal came with a delicious cookie.

Food wasn't fresh and the staff is rude. 5 minutes before closing they told us we were going 2 have 2 finish up bc they were closing and my son is 7, not grown and was trying to eat as quickly as possible. We about fell going out because of them slipping water all over the floors .

Staff is amazing and management, just very customer service focused. It’s the little things such as offering another plate to us who were sharing a meal for lunch. The quality of food and sauces were amazing! An amazing cafe with great staff!

The place was ok. We drove out of our way to get there. Wasn’t such that I would do it again. The food was ok but not great. Service was decent. Atmosphere ok. If in the area ok to eat at but nothing spectacular. Prices too steep for what you get. I would eat there again if in the area but would not go out of my way to eat there again. I might see what else is around first next time. I would encourage others to give it a try if near it. They have lots on the menu and maybe something else is better. You could certainly do a lot worse so I am not down on it. Just trying to give my thoughts of my visit.
