Fantastic staff, clean facility and awesome food.
Met a friend here for lunch for the first time and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit! I had the braised beef rib and opted for cheese grits instead of mashed potatoes. The rib was pull with your fork tender and had so much flavor!! My friend ordered the salmon which had a nice crust and was cooked to perfection. We also ordered the fried biscuits with pepper jelly. We sat in the lovely outside/patio area and I also enjoyed a lemon drop cocktail as they offer a full bar and will make drinks not on the menu. Will return and recommended!
Bartenders barely acknowledged me while at the bar , I sat here for a while and the lady at the bar barely even talked to me; except to ask I I wanted to order something . I had to ask if she could described some of the dishes I was contemplating to order. Poor service , I didn’t feel welcomed nor acknowledged. This is my second time at the bar.
Smashburger was good don’t think I would order the Caesar salad again
Food was great. I had the pork and my wife had steak frites. Pork cooked perfectly and steak right on the money. Tuna tartar was some of the best I've had. I highly suggest this restaurant. It's not in downtown Raleigh so it's easy to get to, but it is also highway accessible. It's worth it.
Enjoyed the food and outdoor seating. Enjoyed watching other people's dogs, glad they are allowed. Don't like that they walk off with your credit card when QR codes are a thing now. Was anxious to leave for a concert but was held hostage waiting for my card to be returned after all other customers were served first. Let me pay at the table. Better for everyone!

Food wasn’t that good. Something tasted off with the brownie. Mentioned to waitress and she didn’t seem to care. Avoid this place.
Steaks & salmon are perfectly cooked. Sides. Phenomenal. The mocktails were a nice pairing. Everything was clean & the waitstaff is polite.
This restaurant was recently recommended to me by some friends while I was trying to find a new place to go for my anniversary. They had raved so highly about their experience that my wife and I decided that it would be fun to check it out. I used to stop in at the previous restaurant at that location so it was exciting to see all of the renovations. We sat on the patio. The space is beautiful and contemporary, and separates itself so well from the busy traffic on that corner that I completely forgot it was there.
Brendan was our server and he was fantastic. I mentioned we were planning on taking our time and he aced his timing. We were there for a little over three hours and he was always right there when we were ready for the next drink or plate. He had the art of non verbal checks mastered. We weren’t near anyone he was waiting on and he absolutely made it look like he was walking by our table for real reasons while he was watching our drink and food levels.
At one point another sever, Madison, pre-bussed our table and noticed my wife’s drink was empty and offered another one, Brendan was on it already - but great teamwork! All of the food was delicious, but truthfully the service is what we’ll be back for.
Shout out to the host this evening (Oct 10), I’m sorry I didn’t get her name. I walked in and asked her if the staff were friends, which I get is an odd question out of the blue. She handled it with grace and responded that they were so I left my cash tip on the table instead of tracking down Brendan to give it to him. Great job to the whole team! except the manager who we didn’t see in the three hours we were there, I really wanted to let them know how great their staff was.

We have eaten at The Mill in Old Raleigh a couple of times and have never been disappointed. The daily fish specials are amazing - well balanced flavors and unique ingredients w a lovely presentation. My wife had the steak frites most recently and loved it!! The wait staff is very attentive, Madison was terrific! The entire evening was a pleasure from the starters through dessert. Do not hesitate to give The Mill a try. You will not be disappointed.
Had higher expectations based on the reviews. Made a reservation for four for my daughter's 19th birthday. Sat outside next to a whitewashed brick wall. I only mention that because throughout the evening I ended up with white "chalky" paint, or whatever is on the brick, on me. We ordered honey rolls and immediately noticed that they had what appeared to be mold all over the bottom of them. They also seemed stale. The waiter was very understanding and credited the cost of our appetizers. My son and wife liked their food (steak frites and shrimp pasta). My daughter and I split the cowboy steak that is advertised for two people. We were told the cowboy steak is so big that it takes 20-30 minutes to prepare. We agreed that wasn't a problem. When we received our food about 30 minutes later everything was hot except for the steak that was just above room temperature. Cold for a steak. It seemed like the kitchen didn't start preparing all our other food until the steak was done cooking. That would explain why everything else was hot. I was hungry and we'd already been waiting awhile so I didn't complain or send the steak back to be reheated. Not sure how that would have turned out anyway. The food was well seasoned and tasted good. At least the entrees. They also brought out an appetizer at no charge (bacon wrapped dates stuffed with gorgonzola) but didn't discuss it with us otherwise we would have opted for something else. My wife doesn't eat bacon and my kids don't like gorgonzola. I do appreciate the attempts to make up for moldy rolls. Ultimately this won't be a restaurant we return to. Which is unfortunate because it isn't far from our home.
