The cauliflower was great, but need more vegan options.

I am giving the rating of 2 stars because the waitress (she gets 5 stars) was really nice. It was our anniversary and my husband loves asian food. This place has very good reviews; however, after ordering several items off the menu only one item I would order again if I were to ever come back. The shrimp tacos tasted the best. The porkbelly tacos were underwhleming, the saltiness of the porkbelly didn't come through at all. The Kaarage, we were served fried skin and batter for the most part. I only was able to recognize two actually pieces of chicken and they were serverly over cooked. It wasn't worth $10. The Tonkotsu comes with a very smokey flavored broth, what made it "good" was the chili bomb which is an extra $2. The chili bomb offered more depth of flavor and some spice. To top it all off, my husband and I shared all the dishes so we both had upset stomach in the morning. The presentation of the plates is very nice.

We so wanted to be fans of this spot. We typically dine in the North Hills area because it is more convenient, but we ventured downtown on a cold evening to try this spot out.Honestly, it was a C+ in our book. We had to ask several times to have our bottle of wine opened and the food was pretty bland or overly fried. The bartender kept having loud restaurant specific conversations with the servers over our food about restaurant protocol such as who was carrying what drink tray, replacing trash bags, etc. It was loud enough to make us pause our conversation. When you add on that it is not convenient to park, we will not be back.Wish tonight had been better! We so don’t want to stay in our same neck of the woods but tonight just reinforced that venturing out doesn’t always pay off. ?

We went for a late lunch and despite there only being two other tables, service was slow and staff was inattentive. The dumpling were good, but the tonkatsu and vegetable ramens were so miserably bland. The sweet potatoes in the vegetarian ramen were oddly cold and the added soy egg hardly tasted like a soy egg at all. I added the leftover garnish from the dumplings to my ramen hoping it would help and it still wasn’t enough.. We drove a hour from Goldsboro to try it and were super disappointed. We won’t be back.Vegetarian options: The vegetarian ramen is incredibly bland.

If anyone goes to tonbo, I highly recommend the ramen balls and shrimp buns! Ramen was delicious and service was great! If you enjoy anime you will enjoy the theme.

No food options for kids, had to order an appetizer so he had something to eat and thankfully liked it. The appetizer was actually what I liked the most from our dinner. Both hubby and I had Ramen and it was ok.Kid-friendliness: No kids menu or options for food that most kids would like. They did offer just plain ramen but it would still be an adult portion and price which would have been too much food for a child and too expensive.

We have been coming here for 2+ years, and the service has gone down in quality so much that we will not be going back. We had to ask several times for water, our waiter got our order wrong and charged us for the mistake, and it took a very long time for our food to arrive on a weeknight. It seemed that they were significantly understaffed, and prioritizing take out orders over patrons seated in the restaurant. Good food, but terrible service and experience overall.

My recent visit to Tonbu Ramen left much to be desired. Despite arriving on a quiet Sunday afternoon around 2:00 pm when the restaurant wasn't busy, the service was surprisingly slow. It took an unnecessarily long time for our food to be served, which was disappointing considering the lack of customers.I opted for the Tonkatsu, a dish I was eagerly looking forward to. However, upon its arrival, I was met with disappointment as it was served burnt. This oversight in the kitchen was disappointing, to say the least. Although they promptly replaced the dish, by the time the new one arrived, my companions had already finished their meals. This lag in service further compounded the frustration of the burnt dish.Another letdown was the limited variety of food options available on the menu. Given the restaurant's reputation and the plethora of positive reviews it has garnered, I expected a more diverse selection to choose from. Unfortunately, the lack of choices left me feeling underwhelmed and questioning the authenticity of the restaurant's acclaim.Overall, my experience at Tonbu Ramen fell short of my expectations. While the ambiance was pleasant and the staff courteous, the slow service, burnt dish, and limited menu options detracted significantly from the dining experience. Despite its positive reputation, I left feeling disappointed and unlikely to return anytime soon.
