Sadly I have been informed in January 2022 the highway diner has closed its doors. I was told staff shortages is the problem. I hope it’s only temporary as being from the U.K. found this diner everything I ever expected and more. Visited it over 20 times in my visits to NC and will be missed.

The food, the staff, the environment could not be better. A perfect omelette. Good coffee. Very clean.

Too much shucking and jiving going on. Plenty of empty tables but they were all dirty. We sat at one and after 10 minutes they suggested we move to a clean table in the corner. Took another 10 minutes to get a waitress's attention for drinks. Took forever to get our order and the only thing that was hot was the english muffins that were 10 minuets later. Took 20 minutes after the eggs arrived for the pork tenderloin to arrive. My wife complained about her cold scrambled eggs and waitress said she would reorder. We left after waiting another 15 minutes and no eggs or updates. There was plenty of help. Too bad Mayo and Nick are no longer around. They would have emptied the restaurant on this Sunday afternoon. I cannot believe how much this place has deteriorated. I was an embarrassed local and I doubt I will give you another chance.

Food was delicious and we love the idea of being able to order lunch for bfast. Marshall was our server and he was on his game today!!

Disappointed table service ended at 4:00 so we ordered take out because our tastes we’re looking forward to fried pork chops, mash potatoes with gravy and fried green tomatoes. Brought it back to our hotel to eat. It was very good but it could have been great to have it hot in the dinner. Maybe next time. I didn’t see anything on their website or trip advisor that said they stopped serving at4:00.

Here’s why it’s the best. My wife and I couldn’t decide who should order the root beer float. The waitress said “just order one” Then she brought us two glasses each with a with huuuuge scoop of ice and a 16 ounce glass of root beer. More than enough for two. Then my wife couldn’t decide between a BLT or chicken salad. She opted for the BLT. The waitress said “I’ll bring you a sample of the chicken salad so you’ll know for next time.” This is why we stop here every year on our way from Tampa to Richmond. It has the nicest servers plus great diner food at very reasonable prices. And by the way, we also buy their pies to go. All their pies are outstanding!

Stopped for a quick lunch. Very long wait for food. Nice waiter but extremely FILTHY. Rude staff. Needs management

Ate here 3 times while traveling. The food was very good. The service staff exceptional. The deserts were great. My only concern is the occasional fly buzzing around. Encountered that issue all three visits. Try the strawberry cake. Outstanding.

Stopped here for breakfast on our way to Florida. Nice clean spot. Indoor and outdoor dining available. Near I-95. Good, basic cooking. Eggs and bacon cooked the way you like it. Servers are lovely and attentive to your needs. No need to ask for refills on coffee! A nice touch—our server asked if we’d like our last refill in a to go cup. We like it here. Feels homey!

So been stopping here for years. This time was a dismal disappointment. Our first waitress was too busy running her mouth and not looking after her customers furthermore most of the waitstaff was wearing their masks under their chins. The food was ok not their usual outstanding and we got a second waitress because as our first explained to us she was waiting for second shift to arrive so that she could take care of an 89 year old elsewhere. It was not busy however 15 minutes for drinks that our second waitress brought to us she was properly wearing her mask and really tried to make our experience better however the fresh potato chips which have always been a family favorite were over cooked and over seasoned. As we left the chef sans mask or gloves leaned over the counter to have the cashier ring up a sandwich for him. The restaurant itself was not clean the ladies restroom the wet paper towels were sitting on the counter abd trash was overflowing. I am NOT returning

Stopped on a Saturday at 520pm. Advertised as pet friendly. Place was empty. Refused to seat us outside (with dog). Place is dirty, and workers have a nasty attitude anyway

Stopped based on positive reviews. Waitstaff did not all wear masks covering their noses. We sat outside and the tables were dirty. Service was absent minded but friendly. Price was right and portions were large. Seems like a place for locals.

Very dirty and if you were not a local you did not get service.....kitchen floors were awful...tables not wiped down

The building is a perfect diner, all shiny and bright. The staff is engaged in their work. Our food was beyond expectations. Fried green tomatoes in a really light batter, juicy and tender. The meatloaf as it should be, tasty with gravy that is perfect with mashed potatoes. Pimento cheese on a burger is lushish. And fried hot potato chips. Well worth the modest pricing

Was staying next door at the Fairfield Inn on an overnight and decided to give this a try for a quick dinner. Let me tell you, what a find. Ordered the fried fish and my wife ordered a chicken sandwich. The food was excellent! The fish was certainly fresh, which I didn’t really expect and the chicken was absolutely wonderful. Large portions. The staff are all friendly and attentive and I love the diner ambience. This is a great spot for inexpensive and tasty food.
