It's a shame this place is closing their doors soon. My speculation is the owners are looking to get top dollar for the property since there was no real reason when the announcement was published. The food and service was great!

Too much shucking and jiving going on. Plenty of empty tables but they were all dirty. We sat at one and after 10 minutes they suggested we move to a clean table in the corner. Took another 10 minutes to get a waitress's attention for drinks. Took forever to get our order and the only thing that was hot was the english muffins that were 10 minuets later. Took 20 minutes after the eggs arrived for the pork tenderloin to arrive. My wife complained about her cold scrambled eggs and waitress said she would reorder. We left after waiting another 15 minutes and no eggs or updates. There was plenty of help. Too bad Mayo and Nick are no longer around. They would have emptied the restaurant on this Sunday afternoon. I cannot believe how much this place has deteriorated. I was an embarrassed local and I doubt I will give you another chance.

Food is always great how ever the customer service can get better I called in a order and when I got there to pick it up the employee told me who took my order over the phone said oh I forgot to put your order in ?? ?? how ever the manager stepped in and took care of me paid for my food ? ?

My burger was overcooked, but all in all it tasted good. We had no large complaints and our waitress was extremely friendly. The pricing is really cheap and I felt worth it.

This diner is making a huge effort to please...covid has taken a toll....but they will pull thru....friendly staff....lots of take out orders seem to slow down kitchen...food was good!... support this classic Diner

Good food, reasonable prices. An elderly man, in his 80s and his wife, we're pointed to a table. They weren't escorted to the table. They came back and said the table was not cleaned. The girl acting as the hostess, has a harsh tone and was not good with complaints. The elderly couple left. I ordered my good to go. The only complaint is the fried green tomatoes are full of grease.

My family was just discussing the previous week why NC was so light on diners. On our way back from hiking, my mom and I saw a sign for this place, so we took a little detour. The place was rockin' at lunch, but we didn't wait long for a seat. Tons of staff, all busting a**. They were all super nice too. I was surprised by the number of dishes for $5.99. Our food was good, service was great! Guess I know where to stop when headed back home from Medoc Mountain from now on!

We stayed overnight at the Candlewood Suites and the The Highway Diner was right next door so we ordered carry out and ate in our room. The Thursday night special was pork chops. They were great! We also ordered the fried chicken tenderloin platter which was excellent as well. The person who answered the phone and took the order was pleasant, efficient, and accurate.

Stopped here for breakfast on travels back up to NJ. Ordered the U-turn breakfast special and it was delicious! Lots of food French toast, eggs, bacon home fries, grits. Our waiter Sammy was wonderful, very attentive great conversation too! Will definitely stop here again.
