Honestly do I even have to go there??? GET THE SIRLOIN TIPS WITH PEPPERS AND ONIONS. DO NOT SIT CLOSE TO EACH OTHER IF YOU GET THEM BECAUSE YOU WILL SLAP EACH OTHER.YES IT'S THAT GOOD.We have ate there off and on for many years.If you are traveling to Lake Lure via Old highway 74 you want to stop there.It is a favorite for weekend bikers, it is a favorite place for middle class and upper middle class people.While it is race-friendly you simply don't see that many people of other races at it.And do expect a crowd, you're going to experience a crowd.They have steak and seafood and all of it is perfect most of the time.Sometimes you will get a dinner that's not perfect, just simply send it back.The one problem they have is they have a men's room and a women's room with only one toilet in each.The tea is absolutely flawless.You will of course need something like Pepto-Bismol after you eat there, yes you will be full because you will love it.It is located on Old highway 74 it has existed for years and is especially popular in the Summer. #Travel #biker #middleclass #upperclass #dinner #seafood #business #steak #northcarolina #nc #legendary #popular

This place is incredible! Delicious salad bar, huge shrimp platter, and the pricing was beyond reasonable. Our waitress was excellent too. We will be back.

Took a really really long time. Food was bland except for the steak. The steak is great. The waitress was nice but overall the food was pretty sad.

My Mother and I chose Scoggins for a much needed hot meal after a lengthy hospital stay. I cannot even put it into words how wonderful our meal was. Steaks were perfectly cooked and of great quality. Potatoes were perfect and the salad was very fresh. We took our meal to-go and it was still hot when we got home. Thank you thank you thank you! Much appreciated and we WILL be back!

My husband and I visited for the first time for dinner. Will was our server and he did an amazing job with our party of 8 despite the circumstances around him. He did not miss a need and handled our dining experience extremely well. We appreciate the good service as well as the delicious food! Highly recommend.

Great very tender filet mignon! My husband enjoyed the oysters and the fish stew. Pleasant, friendly family atmosphere. Excellent friendly staff. We will be back next time we're anywhere near Rutherfordton.

If you like small portions of greasy overcooked sea food this is your place! I ordered an over-priced steak to avoid this and was majorly disappointed. I ordered the steak medium rare but it was well done and was miniature. One at the table ordered fried oysters. The flavor was of rancid chicken liver.

Excellent food and service. They know how to make prime rib with excellence! The fish stew sounds like an odd option for an appetizer but it was delicious and came out hot. We look forward to returning soon.

Got there right before they opened, there was already a line. Place was super clean and the food was amazing. Sirloin was cooked perfectly and was probably one of the best tasting steaks I've ever had. Service was amazing. First time I've ever been and I'm convinced it's the best place in the county.

Food is phenomenal! Service was good and we had a great dinner. So why the 3 star rating? The owner/manager. We went in, ordered off the menu given to us, and I saw crab legs priced at $16.99 for a pound, and $9.99 for additional 1/2 pound. Wow! Great price and I actually said this to the server when I ordered. She said “oh, it is a very good price”. Again dinner was great, but issue was in charges. Went to pay and charged for $25.99 for the pound, additional &13.99 for 1/2 pound. WHAT? I immediately requested the manager, and the owner came out. She pulled and showed me a menu where the prices were marked out with a pen and handwritten in the new price. I complained that I didn’t get THAT menu and further the server AGREED with me on what a great price was on a now discovered false menu. The owner/manager then started complaining how much she pays now when she buys crab, and that the server would need to pay for this if I wanted the charges corrected. She then blamed the server stating she was suppose to “tell you the new price”. WHAT? I mean even if that’s the case, obviously they took the time to write on some menus…just not all?!?!!!! The owner/manager needs to own HER poor judgment and the error on HER restaurant’s part. How did this become my issue to punish someone for her error? That is horrible to charge a server for the restaurant’s failure to communicate accurate menu prices. I paid the full amount as I didn’t feel the server should suffer for a l**** owner/manager who obviously needs a lesson in integrity. We will eat there again I’m sure because the food is so good, but for all who read this…beware of menu prices not clearly communicated. Shouldn’t have to, but ask if the prices are correct.
