You can definitely tell new ownership took place. They run it like a factory line now and portions are MUCH smaller. They don’t accommodate your food requests, even if you correct them if it’s incorrect- they’ll still serve you whatever was prepared and not fix it for you. Cooks have no personality. Definitely not what it use to be.

We took our son for his birthday and the service was wonderful! The food was fantastic and the cook was better than expected. They went above and beyond. Being that my son turned 29 and I love to embarrass him any chance I get, they all came out and put a chefs hat on him while they sang. I loved it! We will be back!

So I come here at least once a month. And today by far has been the worst experience I have ever had in the past 7 years of coming to this restaurant. ( I have AFRID) I have had 1 “formal” complaint, and by that I mean I asked my waitress to tell the cook to make sure he cooks the scallops a bit less they were too tough, she asked is she could refund or make me new ones, I told her no that’s okay. The owner of the restaurant came up to me while we were packing up and said he’d like to make them fresh for me anyways. He brought them to me and they were amazing, the following month I went back and got the same cook, and again he made the scallops chewy and tough, I simply didn’t want to complain so I left them on my plate, each month following I somehow get the same cook… and each time the scallops just were not good but again, I don’t complain I just set them to the side and go about my meal. Fast forward to today, my fiancé, daughter and I get seated, put in our order and once again we get the same cook. This time he looks at me and says “do you want your scallops medium, medium well, or well done” to be honest, I have never in my life been asked that question so I was a bit baffled, I believe I said medium but about half way through the cook I asked my fiancé what I had said and she said she was unsure to just remind him again. I get his attention and I say “excuse me sir, I was a bit taken back when you asked me how I wanted my scallops I’ve never been asked that before, could you make them just more on the rare side as you are allowed to” he looks at me and said “yeah I had to ask you cause every time you come in here you complain about my scallops and I have to pay for them” I was a bit shocked and I replied “ I have only ever complained about my scallops once, any other time they have been not up to par I just leave them on my plate” he then replied “yeah you make me pay for them too” in all honesty I kind of shut down after that as I 1. Never wanted to take away someone’s wage and 2. Didn’t know how to handle that type of response from an establishment I am paying $40 a plate at. Normally I’d bite my tongue and just finish my meal as quickly as possible and go home, however after that conversation he proceeds to make both mine and my fiancés meats completely backwards, she ordered the steak (hibachi) jumbo shrimp (hibachi) and got teriyaki steak and teriyaki shrimp, I ordered both scallops and jumbo shrimp teriyaki and he gave me hibachi for both, the entire time flinging grease at my fiancé (please mind you, I have been here at least 75 times and have never dealt with that) to the point her phone and blouse were covered in grease. We quickly packed up our food, paid and made our way to the front. I went to the bar and asked to speak to the manager, and a lady I personally have never seen before says she is the manager. I pull out my receipt and say “can you Please tell me what the name of the cook that made our food is, I want to make sure next time I come I never get him again” she said “it’s Fabio” ( she could of said favio) I continued with “he gave us the most uncomfortable and rudest experience I’ve ever had here” and she proceeded to repeat his name. I guess correct me if I’m wrong… but wouldn’t the “manager” want to know why their customer was unhappy? Or at least what their cook did to make them feel that way? I’m not sure if we will return to this establishment… which really sucks cause it’s my favorite restaurant, I come here every year for my birthday. I know if I do, I’ll make sure it’s on a day the owner is there, cause I know he cares about his patrons.

Way too overpriced for what you get. Filet was cooked very well, that was the best part.

Very honest review:

Ive been to several Habachi places, where they cook in front of you. Ill start with the positive, our chef Levi was amazing, sweet and skilled. He would crack jokes while cracking the eggs. Definitely a great performance. Definitely a 5star for the chef.
However we had a disappointing start with our server. She became more attentive after I complained, but did not offer any solution to the original concern. Our table was stagger seated but full before the table next to us was seated. The other table had quicker service and they got a chef 1st. Once our chef came out he noticed that an order was prepped wrong, asked the server for the needed food. She said would bring and did not, chef had to go get it himself. I brought up my concerns to the server directly but she did not apologize and gave a reasonable excuse, then when I was not satisfied (just wanted a sorry), she came back with another excuse.
Towards the end of our meal, before we finished our server asked if we wanted boxes and how the check needed to be split. Give us a couple minutes to eat please. I did ask for the Manager, and when she came out I told her everything and more that happened with our first experience. She apologized and attentively listened to what I had to say. She did offer a solution that was satisfactory and much appreciated. I did say I was looking for an apology.

Overall service was good, food amazing and experience was nice. We will come back to support local.

We arrived at the restaurant at 9:10 we knew it may have been nearing closing time but the young lady stated they would serve us. Kilani our waitress treated us like we were the first people there for the day. The cook made our food like it was a full table the food and the service was amazing!

Best Japanese food. Great sushi. Fun cooks. Be prepared to wait if you come on a weekend night… it’s probably the best restaurant in Salisbury and the waiting area reflects it. They will also accommodate allergies now that the ownership changed and they have a new sushi bar.
