This place is a gem! We really enjoyed strolling through downtown, grabbing ice cream from Spanky's, and stopping by the park. They offer an excellent variety of flavors, convenient parking right out front, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Had the displeasure of stopping in to get ice cream. First off sorry we had to disturb the two very unpleasant young ladies who had to stand up and wait on us. Worse yet, an elderly woman wanted a half scoop of two different flavors and you’d think she asked for a small miracle. Finally my husband told the young lady just give her one scoop of each I’m paying. I personally will never go back. There is a very cool old school Dairy Queen just up the road.
The decor has a great retro vibe, and the ice cream is fantastic. It claims to be “homemade”. I was told by a long time resident of the town who runs a shop just a few doors down that this is, in fact, true. They make their ice cream right there, in the back. If management reads my review, something I’d suggest to make your place 5-star is to use better bowls and spoons. We were served our ice cream in the lowest-end/cheapest styrofoam bowls and plastic spoons. The spoons...
