The owner was very rude to my husband and I last night. We were there to listen to The Lonesome Road Band, and had made our reservations several weeks ago on open table. We arrived and checked in, I asked if we would be seated towards the front to be able yo see and here the band better. The members of the band are close personal friends, and the hostess and our waiter knew we were staying. We were not told the table we sat at had been reserved by another person afterwards. One person after we ate, the owner came to us and basically asked us to get up from the table it was reserved after us. She never offered us a seat at the bar, but two chairs to sit in the middle of the floor which can be another issue. The owner offered no hesitation to cash out our check and say, “Have a nice night”, as we left. We live in Asheville so it’s at least a hour back home. Needless to say, we won’t go back, but can listen to the wonderful band elsewhere.
We had a delicious and thoughtfully prepared meal ...Tumeric Chickpea Soup start followed by the perfect fall preparation of salmon with spaghetti squash and the juiciest, tastiest pork chop. Service was kind and attentive and atmosphere charming . We will be back

Just Ok. Waitress was pretty miserable and food was not as great as people had made out to us. Starters were better than entrees. Sides options were disappointing. It was nice they had some coloring books and stuff for the kids. I don't think we would rush back.

Food was great, we took desserts home for breakfast and were delicious. Our server seemed a little annoyed and impatient when we had questions about food and drinks. The restaurant wasn't busy but we had to get up and go inside twice to ask for accompanies that we're to come out with our apps and additional drinks. Maybe she was having a bad day but it definitely impacted our 1st time experience.

Chef who made tiramisu doesn't know what is tiramisu is about. It was just cake from the store named tiramisu.

My family and I visited the Purple Onion back in August. The positive part of the experience was being able to be accommodated to get seated without a reservation. Other than that, we were disappointed. The server forgot my salad I ordered as an appetizer. My mom asked to have chicken added to her Mediterranean Plate and it was advertised as grilled chicken. When it came out, there was no chicken. The server did get it, but it was very underwhelming - it looked like boiled cubed chicken and was ice cold, which didn’t support it being “grilled chicken”. Myself, my husband, and I had pizza, which was decent. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t recommend.

A very charming stop in the mountains. Glad I pulled off here for lunch . The smoked trout with avocado and bacon was excellent.

Wow..we just had lunch today and it was delicious! The turkey chili was so good I could have licked my bowl clean. I would love to find a recipe close to what they serve. I will definitely go back.

I would have given it five stars, but it seemed like everything took a while. The food and ambience are very good. Just do not go here if you are in a hurry. It took a little longer than normal to get waited on, get drinks, and get the food order.
We had a great time listening to local singer-songwriter Aaron Burdett, who is now with the Steep Canyon Rangers, and his bassist and banjo/guitar player. The Purple Onion is iconic to the region.
Another fine meal at Purple Onion with my husband and dog! The menu options are varied and our server was very helpful with suggestions. The entire staff are very welcoming! We opted to take hone a piece of peach pie to enjoy layer. Glad we did!!
