Loved the food and impressed with the service. I was mostly there to hear Michael Reno Harrell.. This was my fifth time hearing him, all at the Purple Onion. He did NOT disappoint. I came with a group of five. We all loved the entire evening.
The music inside was pretty loud, but sitting outside it was quiet. Great meal and great service.
We rented an ABNB in Saluda and chose the Purple Onion for our first night. Got there early and sat at the bar which was very cozy. The bartender, namely Mandy, was fantastic and made us feel right at home, like regulars. Based on that great experience we decided to have our meal at the bar as well. I had the Greek Salad and their special Blue Crab small plate - both were outstanding. My bride has the Mediterranean Salad - the best she ever had...... Highly recommend this establishment, a true gem in the “Mayberryish” Saluda.....kept thinking we would run into Andy and Barney.
Aaron BURDETT concert at the Purple Onion on Sunday was fantastic! The ambiance was positive and the audience treated the place like a listening room. And why not? Aaron, Kim on base and Lisa on banjo were such good performers, we all wanted to listen. Thank you to the Onion for bringing us such good music in Saluda! What a gem. ❤️
The Harvest soup was a delight - as was the Tabouleh salad - you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My bride was also quite happy with the crab dip.
The Purple Onion service is impeccable. New menu offerings keep things fresh. Always a treat to finish with Bourbon Pecan Pie or one of the other fantastic desserts.
Excellent place to dine! Cute little town. This is a destination place for foodies or anyone just wanting to enjoy a good meal. The atmosphere and dress is casual but food is more upscale.
The seafood cioppino was a delicious dish for a cool fall evening with friends. Purple Onion never disappoints!
Have been to this neat place several times. We were waylaid by interstate traffic, missed our reservation, and they waited on us. Staff is very kind, food is so fresh and delish...especially the blackberry cobbler!
We always enjoyed Purple Onion especially in cute downtown Saluda the last few times not so much. We felt the menu was lack luster. The pizza I had was like a Pita pocket with toppings. My husband's hamburger was good but it was a hamburger! Although no sides unless you consider tortillas chips straight from the bag as they don't have a fryer ( very weird)! Place could use a refresh!!

Always good food with great service! A fun place we try to schedule when we are in that area!
It was our first time back in quite a while and it was amazing as always! The staff were all welcoming and courteous and our server gave us some great recommendations. We enjoyed our mediterranean pizza, mushroom pizza and I especially liked the pumpkin and white bean soup. We managed to save enough room for tiramisu as well! We will be back soon!
Nice to return and enjoy an evening meal. Still a good spot but not as good as it was years ago. Needs a little updating. But still great spot to land for casual dining. Good wines by the bottle for a fair price.
A couple drove down from Maryland to Saluda NC for my book launch, and we took them out for dinner at Purple Onion. The food was excellent. They were impressed. Service was good, attentive without hovering. In the outdoor patio background noise was noticeable, but did not inhibit conversation. I wish they served espresso.
Met several friends to see the Get Right Band. Had an amazing evening with smiles all around, great service, cold beer, and great music !
