I've been to dozens of breweries over the years, some are good, some are lame... This place is AMAZING!! The Belgian Tripple is on point, and I've been to Belgium and had those beers. They have a great ESB and Sangria. The chicken tenders (sweet chili sauce) were out of this world good!! There is ample seating, dining room, upstairs and outside. The music is good, and at the right volume so you can still have a conversation. This place is a gem!!
The best beer around and the food is out of this world phenomenal.
Overall, it's a nice place with a wide variety of wines and a small capacity that gives customers the opportunity to taste multiple portions at once. I regret the limited selection of main items on the menu, but that doesn't take away from the deliciousness of the other items.
Newgrass hosted our wedding rehearsal dinner and it couldn’t have been any better! The food was just amazing! They had chicken, ribeye, pork tacos that tasted like we went to an authentic Mexican restaurant.
Scout was so easy to work with and planning this dinner ended being the least stressful part to planning our wedding. What a truly amazing experience!
Their food is so good they could stand as a stand-alone restaurant. The food on top of, in my opinion, the best beer in the world makes Newgrass a favorite. Their sours are like no other, their various styles always hit the mark, and they have no misses.
Another fun trip to shelby. Good food good prices. Might have had more had staff come by the table and and asked.
Great beer!
Newgrass used to be one of our favorite places in Shelby. It had a great vibe. The food was consistently good and we enjoyed the beers. In the last year, things have changed dramatically. I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve gone in to eat to be told the kitchen was closed. The hours are listed on the website and social accounts but they don’t follow these hours. Even went in one time (after double checking online) to be told they had closed for a “reset.” If you’re going and plan to eat, it’s best to call first.
Food was good. Loved the pimento cheese.
However, I was truly thrown off by the “sour” beer. The texture was off. Apparently it was a smoothie sour? But I typically only get sours when out, and I’ve never had a sour that didn’t have the consistency of normal beer. It was inedible.
I feel like they should label the drink correctly on the menu if it is a “smoothie.”
We had an amazing surprise birthday party here for my husband and brother-in-law!!!! The food they catered was amazing but most of all the staff was super attentive and helpful!!! I can’t say enough nice things about their service. Everyone, especially Scout made it a very special and memorable day!!!!
Restaurantji Recommends
Very nice brewery with a nice selection of beer. Food menu looked good but didn't eat there tonight.
Great beer and great service!
They can't keep their ideologies separate from their business. Ready for them to get out of that spot so a better restaurant that is centered around food comes along. Try Asheville.
My wife and I come her at least once a month for a game night and we always have a good experience. Taco Tuesday is always a good bet as they frequently change it up and there are options for everyone. Their Nashville Hot Chicken is really good. Would recommend.
Great food and fun vibe! I always have fun here and especially when they host DND with deer god entertainment. Love love love when they have potato tacos yum ❤
