The customer service and the atmosphere was a total vibe!! 10/10
I’m not sure why this is called “Modern Mexican Cuisine”? I’m Mexican so my bar is set high for Mexican restaurants, especially if it says a phrase like that in the name. But even if my bar wasn’t set high, I think I would’ve been disappointed. We walked in an d you can of course still tell that it’s a renovated old Ruby Tuesday’s building, but the decor and branding is gorgeous. I absolutely loved the beautiful whimsical chandeliers. The service was also great! But the food was very disappointing. Very expensively priced for food that’s more bland than a generic Mexican restaurant around here. The food was lacking. It doesn’t taste like they have a chef (at least not when we visited on a not busy Sunday night). It tastes like they just put a random person back there to defrost and reheat things. Nothing tasted fresh or had any kind of spice or flavor. I got the Enchiladas Suizas, and the rest of my group got the Carne Asada, oysters, cheese dip, tacos de carne asada, and a mac n cheese kids meal and cheeseburger kids meal. The cheese dip was almost 7$ by itself! The kids meals were around 7/8$ which is good. The cheeseburger was actually delicious! The best thing we got actually, they should’ve just made a cheeseburger restaurant like Cowfish in Raleigh. I mean really it was delicious, better than CookOut lol. The mac n cheese was just generic Kraft mac n cheese (the skinny cheap noodle kind) that my son didn’t like or eat. He was disappointed thinking a restaurant would serve homemade baked mac n cheese with the regular elbow noodles, poor guy. I understand though, since it’s a Mexican restaurant and that’s not a specialty. I think they should write Kraft mac n cheese on the menu though for more clarity. The carne asada my husband said was “ok”. A little dry not much seasoning. Only good thing was the nice flame show they do for it beside the table. The enchiladas suizas were stuffed with dry bland chicken. Not enough sauce. And the corn tortillas weren’t soft either. Could’ve at least been microwaved a little to soften them. They didn’t taste authentic at all. Tasted like generic bland American style enchilada casserole. Not fried in the sauce or anything special. I would not get them again. The frijoles were bland. The rice was ok, needed more seasoning. The sweet tea was a little too sweet. The oysters were very heartily stuffed and they were okay, but definitely need to be eaten with lemon and hot sauce. The cheese dip like I said was overpriced but good. Chips and salsa were good. The tacos were okay. Not handmade tortillas of any kind. The meat was just ok. Overall they really need more seasoning, more char, more flavor and passion in their cooking. Maybe less frozen and more fresh… I would only come back for the kids cheeseburger and chips and salsa.
Kid-friendliness: It was definitely kid friendly and had a lot of options on the kids menu for kids. I remember cheeseburgers, mac n cheese and quesadillas but there was more. The fries were nice big steak style and crispy and good.

Molcajete is more than enough for two people. On second visit we tried the Ceviche with shrimp- both delicious.

First time here and WOW! What a find! The place is beautifully decorated with an atmosphere that made us feel like we were at a resort in Mexico! From the hostess to the servers and all in between were friendly and very professional. The food? OMG! We had Guac, cheeses dip, street corn all wonderful. Husband hadTacos Barria and I had California Fish Tacos both were absolutely delightful. Took home some chiros also. I can’t say enough about this place. Amazing! Thank you for being here! You’re our new favorite place!

Have been here twice now, once for a school lunch and then I got take out last night. The food is AMAZING!!!!! This is the best Mexican place in Smithfield, and quite frankly in the Smithfield, four oaks, benson area. Please come here!!! Great atmosphere and decor, and super nice people who work there. Both times I have gotten the enchiladas supremas, amazing!!!!

I went to see the place and found bad service at the bar. The girl seemed moody, unhelpful and it honestly disappointed me to the point where I doubt I'll go again

Our waitress Margarita was phenomenal and the food and drinks were good. We were seated immediately and our food literally only took 15 minutes to come out after it was placed. Enchiladas, taco salad and empanadas ??. Definitely a must try....and the decor ?....will be returning

Great atmosphere, service, and food. One of the best in the area.
Food and atmosphere were awesome...However, the prices are WAY to high for the area, especially for Mexican food. There are several other Mexican restaurants that are just as good and a lot less expensive.

Our server was top tier. The food was amazing. These were some of the best Birria Tacos we’ve ever had. Everything was superb. We definitely will be returning.

My sister and I went to Ay Guey to dine. When I tell you that the food we ordered was delicious!!! OMG!!! I ordered an Ay Guey Cantarito (alcoholic beverage), and my dish was the Mojarra in salsa Huitchol, which came with rice and a salad. My sister had aguachile, which was also delicious!! Jimena, our server, was just fantastic! Very nice and professional, and made sure we were taken care of. I rate this place ten out of ten!!
Kid-friendliness: They had a variety of things on the kids menu to choose from.
