The food is very good and seems authentic. The staff is always very nice and attentive to the guests. It has a good bar feel to it, for anyone that just wants a cozy place to go enjoy some good food.
Kid-friendliness: They have a great kids menu and my son loves visiting. He can get exactly what he wants and they are very friendly to him.
Greatest Mexican Restaurant in smithfield. Their horchata is really good and they always get me refills on chips and drinks without me having to ask. Food is really good too.

Food was just... AWFUL. I'm so tired of these sub-par restaurants receiving 4+ star ratings on Google Maps. I finally tried this place after driving by it many times over the years. 4.3 star average rating - what have I got to lose? Turns out, $30 is what. The best part of the meal was the chips and salsa, and even that was pretty bland. None of the actual food was seasoned. The ground beef was just cooked to grey. I doubt they even salted it. The refried beans were essentially just paste and cold. The rice was tasteless, but at least somewhat warm. Aside from the food, the service and atmosphere was nice.

One of me and the wife's favorite date night locations. The staff is always very nice and welcoming. It's a cool and calm atmosphere in here, never too loud. Easy to have a conversation with the person sitting across from you. Food is great! Always pleased with our meal.

Bland & flavorless. Food was sopping wet and not hot at all. Despite being incredibly watery, the shredded chicken was super dried out. Server could tell no one at the table was happy with the food quality and took half off our bill (Reason for the two star rating rather than one star.)There are much better options elsewhere in Smithfield. We will NOT be going back.

My wife, after going there for a company event, took me for my first time. Edgar was the same waiter/ bartender that had served her the first time. He is amazing! Super friendly, very knowledgeable, suggesting food that was amazing and serving drinks that were equally as amazing! The place was medium as far as busyness, we went right before dinner rush about 4:30pm. Easy parking, fast service, decent prices. Out of the Hispanic restaurants we have been to around Smithfield THIS one is in the top three! I strongly recommend El Barzon to locals and travelers seeking authentic Hispanic food.

OMG! Food was amazing and authentic! Large servings, great customer service, delicious drinks and priced right! Every kind of tequila there is! Menudo available all week, huge shrimp cocktails etc. Laid back atmosphere, very friendly people!

Server was pleasant. Food came quickly. Food was BLAND. Never had a taco or burrito that had no flavor. Burrito had only chicken. No rice, beans, sour cream or guacamole inside. Taco was the same. The meat had no Mexican seasonings. Sadly we will not be returning.
