Fun, fast and delicious.

The food was delicious and plentiful. The staff was friendly.

Nice clean restaurant. The chef cooking and entertaining was the best part of the meal. Very pricey. Mixed drinks offered. Nice date night or celebratory option. You start with a soup that looks and taste like murky dish water. Next you get a basic salad with lettuce, cucumbers, carrots and your choice of two dressing ranch or ginger. They do accommodate shellfish allergies and vegetarian request. Kid friendly. Also seating if you wish not to have the live cook experience.

We recently visited Maguro Japanese Steak House in Southern Pines, NC and had an amazing experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was welcoming, clean, and relaxing, making it the perfect spot for a great meal. The service was outstanding — everyone was friendly, attentive, and somehow made us feel like regulars even though we had just walked in. It honestly felt like the server already knew us and was determined to make us feel extra special (and maybe secretly knew exactly when we needed another drink). The food arrived quickly and was fresh, beautifully prepared, and absolutely delicious.

We ordered the Thai fried rice and several sushi rolls, and everything was excellent. The Thai fried rice was full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and had just the right balance of seasoning and freshness. The sushi was incredibly fresh, expertly made, and tasted amazing. Every bite showed the quality and care that goes into the food here. Overall, Maguro Japanese Steak House exceeded our expectations in every way. Great food, excellent service, and a wonderful atmosphere make this one of the best restaurants in Southern Pines. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for outstanding Japanese cuisine and sushi.

Probably the worst experience I’ve ever had at a Japanese restaurant.

1. The flavor of the food was actually pretty good; I would rate it a 6 out of 10.
2. The waiter never asked if we wanted an appetizer or salad and instead only brought out soup.
3. The waiter never refilled our drinks once during the meal; my cup was completely empty by the time we finished eating.
4. A party of eight was seated with us at our table, and the waiter went above and beyond for them, offering appetizers and consistently refilling their drinks.
5. Our chef last night appeared to be very familiar with the party of eight seated with us. Based on the friendly interaction and ongoing conversation between them, it seemed they are likely regular customers who frequently dine at the restaurant.
6. The chef was sloppy while cooking the food and wasted a significant amount of rice, approximately three to four full spatulas.
7. The chef also served that party of eight noticeably larger portions than what was served to my wife and me. He gave a child, approximately seven to eight years old, two full spatulas of steak, while I received barely half a spatula.
8. I had to get up and walk over to the area where the to-go boxes were kept to get my own boxes for my wife and me.

Overall, our experience at Maguro Hibachi Steakhouse was disappointing due to inconsistent service, unequal treatment at the table, and lack of attention from the staff. While the food itself had decent flavor, the overall dining experience did not meet expectations, and it is unlikely that we will return in the future.

Amazing place, the atmosphere is perfect, the food was delicious (and I'm not even a sushi type of person) took someone on a date, the staff was amazing, and the price wasn't breaking the bank. 10/10

The cooked burned and overcooked everything. We got the seafood hibachi and the lobster was overcooked and the scallops and shrimp taste burnt.
