Typical Donald Ross design! Probably the most undulating greens on any course that I've played that he designed! They redesigned the course a few years ago and added more undulations that Ross would have had in the original design to make the course more difficult, due to some holes being fairly short in distance! They also went back to the original sand hills natural areas instead of rough grass! If you're a great putter , you'll love this course!
Just had to say that our stay was so comfortable, and it was made by Jamie at the pub/bar! She was so helpful introducing us to the area, welcoming and sweet. Thank you Jamie!

The food is good, but the atmosphere in the restaurant is a little out dated.

Historic Inn needs to be updated so more people can enjoy the beauty of the place.Restaurant ok, for lunch our burger was very rare, didnt know we needed to ask for cooked burgers. Kids meals a little pricey since their drinks were extra. Wait staff great!!Daytime desk clerk on Tuesday the 2nd was great!!!Dark haired guy in the pro shop needs to work on customer service, rude dude!!

The Mid Pines inn has not been updated for what appears to be at least a half century or more. Our room had peeling paint, stained carpet, peeling wallpaper and bathroom door that didn’t close. We were not able to control the heat in our room. Once the 100+ year old radiator fired up the room was too hot to sleep. So we slept with the windows open and the AC on to counter the heat. The entire property (with the exception of the golf course)n disrepair. There are many ugly abandoned buildings, abandoned tennis courts, and the inn is bad shape on the exterior. There are so many other accommodations in the area that I will never stay there again. It appears that the place caters to a young crowd of golfers that are so intoxicated after 36 holes that they don’t care that they are staying in a death trap.
old school feel. loved it

nice place friendly staff good food we will be back
I enjoyed the best part of my Post Pinehurst trip with the NCGA at Mid Pines inn and restaurant. OMG the front desk manned by Linnell Hart made the difference and influenced my entire golf vacation. I had never be to the South and with Linnell's help, friendliness, casual atmosphere, great conversation, I fell in love with the South. Amazing. I'm already planning my next trip back. Thank you Linnell your the Best!

Good food services not so good
This inn seems old and unkempt, with a horrible smell in the lobby and hallways, dirty carpets, peeling paint and mismatched fur, worn furniture items that look like they were bought from thrift shops. A chair had faded, threadbare fabric and a lampshade had multiple torn spots. There is no elevator so guests might need to carry bags up to a second or third floor. I was scheduled to stay for two nights but checked out after one - couldn't wait to get out of there.
The inn is a fire hazard with scary wiring and boasts an elevator shaft out of Hitchcock. We lugged our bags up three flights of carpet-stained stairs to our room across from the elevator shaft whose doors open to a black hole. Entering the room, the bed was lumpy. We thought a dead body could be under the covers. Two dingy lamps cast spooky shadows. The bathroom door was situated so that my husband had to step into the shower to close and open it. Pipes are rusting, paint is flaking, and air conditioning is on or off with only fan speeds. Don’t stay there.
Photos on the website must be from years ago, nothing remotely resembling them during our stay. Old decor, carpets are dirty and worn, beds are hard, comforter lumpy. Poor A/C units, small outdated baths. Wi-Fi is spotty, no housekeeping services.
Shockingly disappointing! The photos on the website are NOT representative of the current state of the building. Carpets in hallways are filthy, plaster chips falling from the ceilings, wood rot on the inside of window frames, musty and moldy smell, just some of the horribly poor conditions. Mattress and pillows uncomfortable, very dated furnishings, tiny 1950’s era bathroom. A shame that Pinehurst management has not done any maintenance or upgrades to this historic inn. In addition, there is minimal staff around. After a ten minute wait in the reception area, a housekeeper wandered by and checked us in, the next morning the restaurant was not open on time for breakfast before our 8 am tee time. Had to ask for additional towels, toilet tissue, soap, etc.
