We made reservations, which is definitely for the best during tourist season and likely all year. The table wasn't quite ready, so we grabbed drinks at the bar and they noted our reservation in order to add to that bill. The bartenders were friendly and working fast. All the food was delicious and our waitress did a wonderful job.

What a special place in Southport. I would have tried all the sides if my stomach would let me. We had a big group and the service and food execution was flawless. Can't wait to return.

5th or 6th year in a row that we have had our yearly beach family dinner!

We had an amazing experience at Mr. P’s Bistro thanks to our incredible server, Michael—for the second year in a row! From the moment we sat down, he was warm, professional, and genuinely attentive—striking the perfect balance between friendly and efficient. He gave excellent menu recommendations, kept everything running smoothly, and made us feel completely taken care of without ever being overbearing. Michael truly elevated our night once again, and we’ll definitely be back—requesting him every time!

One of Southport's best restaurants. Never had a bad dining experience here and the service is always on point. I wish they'd change out there specials a bit more, but I know Chef Steve has his hands full already. You'll definitely need a reservation.

Got to meet the owner also the chef. He has a real passion for food. By far the best sea food I have ever had. He even mad lima beans taste amazing. Only problem is every time I go out for a real sit down meal I will compare it to Mr. P's.. and be let down. I live out of state and will probably never get it again ?

I was fortunate enough to make Mr P’s my first stop after flying in from Michigan. Superb food, the best scallops I have ever had !!! Also had the fried goat cheese salad that was the perfect accompaniment to the scallops! Known for their craft cocktails which we tried the blueberry basil cocktail which had been crafted by our lovely bartender Taylor, was to die for! We were treated as if everything had been created just for us! We are heading back in a few days , I have not tried it all yet!

Mr. P’s is jewel in Southport, NC. The seafood was some of the best I’ve ever had. I hadn’t had the soft shelled crab since my days in New Orleans. It was outstanding! The service was excellent! Our waitress, April, was extremely knowledgeable and her recommendations for our entrees were spot on! Highly recommended!

We’ve heard raves about the prime rib here, so fussy British hubby got that and fried shrimp. I got a French dip made with the prime rib. The Angus beef lived up to its name in terms of tenderness and fat content…BUT both of us felt as if we were chewing on a tall glass of water, for all the flavor it contained. Only afterwards did we realize there was a reason the waitress offered to have the beef blackened. At least then it would have had some type of flavor. **Here I will note Covid taste loss can play a part in this experience. It’s a different world now and some chefs have upped their game in response. Have the wait staff inform guests of subtle flavors and suggest blackened meat for more robust flavor. ** As for the rest, my Londoner thought the shrimp was just passable, but gave high marks for the salad ingredients being fresh. He thought my fries were the better sort of frozen restaurant-quality product. Taking one star off for service because the waitress could have dropped off our check before taking orders from her large group, or give it to someone else to deliver. We waited an uncomfortable amount of time at our cleared table. Another organizational note, you need a reservation for this restaurant. We’ve been turned away at 4:30 in the past, so this time we had our reservation but the couple in front of us didn’t. They were turned away at first but a waitress suggested a tiny table for 2 right next to the door. I only mention this because the place was barely 1/3 full the entire hour we were there. It just seems like an odd choice for a bistro.
