Good food for price

I only had the salad bar and was very well pleased. They have an extensive menu available and prices are very reasonable.

We used to love The Pines, but the last year it seems every time we call in an order SOMETHING is wrong! This time we got 2 Hamburger steak plates with cheese and onions, mashed potatoes, green beans, and corn bread ($26+). The hamburger steak was very dry and the cheese all pulled off with the paper they put on top. NOW the worst part... I'm embarrassed for them with the corn bread they sent... it was a brick! And apparently it was freshly made as per the employee who took our order. UNACCEPTABLE! It's something EVERYTIME SINGLE TIME we order!!! You'd think we'd learn! Very disappointing. And we know what’s going to happen every time we order…. I don’t know why we torture ourselves.

We mostly got beige food - fried stuff. But it was super nicely done. Fresh ingredients, excellent breading, fresh oil. The front of house staff were super nice. We got there towards the end of the lunch shift on a weekend, so they were a bit tired. But, friendly nonetheless.

Hush puppies were big, and perfectly done, same for the onion rings. My fried squash was close to perfect, as was the salmon. Patty. The fried okra was perhaps the best I've ever had - not overly breaded, or overly seasoned. Just fried okra as it was meant to be . Everything was nicely and lightly seasoned, not bland at all. Hot sauce on the table.

I can only really describe the decor one way: Jesus. You'll know what I mean if you visit. It's Jesus. All Jesus. Nobody was preaching or anything, nobody was talking any kind of religious talk at all. We were just all sitting there eating our wonderful food in the presence of...so much Jesus.

Vegetarian options: Squash, okra, onion rings, all kinds of vegetables. Breaded in fried to perfection!

Dietary restrictions: I'm pescatarian, there was plenty of the air for me to eat. If I were a vegetarian I would have not had any issue having plenty of food. My partner is allergic to dairy, gluten, and citrus - she had zero issues.

Kid-friendliness: Big open dining room, and there were plenty of kids, and they were loving the food.

Called and was told breakfast was done at 11 got here at 1045 and the waitress told me that the cook called it and I was like what did they call and she said breakfast I was a little disappointing but it was fine so I proceeded to order lunch while I was waiting for my food another waitress was serving her tables asking if they wanted more eggs and had another couple come in and order breakfast no problem not sure if it was just the waitress I had but I was not happy I eat my salad and left
