Owner was super friendly and thanked us for coming. The food was good but not the best I’ve had. The rice and peas are not as traditional as I’ve had either. Overall I would come back.

What can I say...Reco'd by friend who visits Jamaica and said this place was better than anything in Jamacia. Absolutely the best food EVER. Party of 8 ordered a variety of things and not one disappointed. Jerked chicken, Bang Bang fries, cabbage, pinto beans all were crazy good. One of the best experiences in a restaurant in a LONG time due to the food and the spectacular owner Roxie. She was AMAZING and we could not get enough of her charm and stories. Will be back every single opportunity we can. I wish there was a way to give 10 stars to this special place. LOVE YA ROXIE...!!!!!

I'm from Maryland and have family in the area. Let me start off saying how I found Rock Steady. I was in Habitat for Humanity and overheard rave reviews about this Caribbean eatery, the lady apparently eats there often because she talked about so many delicious options. Well I asked, she gave directions and now my story begins...I entered and was amazed at the warm feeling and welcome I received from the young man at the register. He was very accommodating and patient with me looking over the menu as it was my first visit. He answered my questions and when he didn't know he went to the back to get an answer. 💯% Great customer service! I ordered grilled fish, beans and rice, salmon egg rolls, plantains and coconut soup. I am pescatarian so Chef Roxie took the time to make the soup dish without chicken. The food arrived at my table temperature hot. The soup was delicious but could have had a bit more heat spice, so I asked Chef Roxie if she had scotch bonnet peppers, she diced them up and it made the dish even better. The fish was grilled and seasoned well and taste great. The peas and rice were very much like what you get in Jamaica made with kidney beans. Plantains were not super sweet (which I preferred) as I've tasted other places, but still delicious. The portion size to prices ratio was definitely a win win because I was able to enjoy my meal for another day. For dessert I had the red velvet 5 or so layers, slice was nice enough to enjoy 3 days. I ordered my husband a to go meal with oxtail, collard greens and Mac and cheese. I loved that the greens were fresh instead of canned. He also had enough for two meals. He enjoyed his meal and said it was great. Now for the beautiful soul of Chef Roxie, she came out introduced herself and was so warm and welcoming. She made me feel like I was a guest in her home. She asked if she could sit with me while she ate a bowl of soup. We had an amazing conversation it was like talking with a friend. I told her I could taste the love she put in her food, you can tell her love language is cooking and serving others. I will always visit Chef Roxie when I come back. Please keep up the great customer service and delivering food made from your soul because it shows. Many blessings to you and your staff for making my meal great and extending such a warm welcome!

If you are looking for flavor and a unique place, then Rock Steady is for you. I had the Caesar Salad with Salmon and Brina had the jerk chicken. It was delicious. And the chef gave us a sneak peak taste of ox tail...oh my it was so good. The spice is excellent, you can tell she loves cooking. True Soul Food. We will be back.

Wonderful food and service. An overall wonderful hidden gem of great food right in the middle of Spindale! Roxie the owner is a true blessing to so many people. I was super impressed that she offered to pray for my friend and family.

Went to this place on my day off. Waste of time. I asked the hostess, is this authentic Jamaican food, she said yes. NOT AT ALL. She recommended the jerk chicken. That is a joke. What they are calling Jerk Chicken is BBQ chicken. PERIOD. The rice and peas is not authentic, it is jasmine rice with kidney beans. The bbq sauce is so thick. I hate I had to add one star. It deserves a negative 10 stars.

This restaurant was AMAZING!
I’m from Charlotte, but this place blew away every Jamaican food and service experience I’ve had in NC. The staff was incredibly kind and made sure we had everything—and I mean anything—we could need. Even my dog got a 5-star gourmet treat: a pup cup and white rice drizzled with oxtail sauce!
We stopped by after a big hike, and now it’s officially my go-to post-mountain spot. Can’t wait to come back!

Been in North Carolina for 3 years, this is the first time I actually experienced what I expected southern hospitality to be. The staff were incredibly attentive and the food was AMAZING! 6/5 stars for sure! I ordered the oxtail with rice & peas and sweet plantains, to unalive for and the oxtails were huge!
