The food was extremely salty so be sure to ask them to limit the amount or it will overwhelm the food.

Pros: Family Friendly, Yummy Food, Ample Seating, Friendly Service. Loved the salad bar (super fresh and fully stocked). Sandwiches, plate dinners, hot dogs, veggies, and more!
Cons: Location makes it easy to miss this little gem if you're not careful.
Take Away: Fast service with a smile. It is always great to find a kid friendly place that offers a good variety of food options and weekly specials.

Me and my husband went to eat lunch here. We waited over 10 minutes in an empty restaurant before the hostess acknowledged our presence. Our food was served completely cold and inedible. When the manager came to our table she offered excuses despite the fact we had just watched a waitress drop a whole bag of cheese on the floor and instead of throwing it away proceeded to the salad bar with it. The manager did finally take $11 off our meal. I've worked in the food industry all my life there is never a reason to serve cold freezing food that isn't supposed to be cold that could make someone sick. Hot food has to be above 165 degree. The wait staff all appeared to be drugged out. Never will we return to this place to eat.

Our family went there for our holiday dinner. Everything was great. We all had a good time, a great meal, and no dishes to wash. Merry Christmas

Food was not great at all. Old potatoes only half warmed up. We had patty melts that didn't look appetizing when they were served. The salad bar did look very nice with fresh produce in a well lit and cooled table.
Floors and tables need A GOOD CLEANING!!! Lots of staff taking their jobs for granted and blaming it on management's why they don't get better tips.

Was there on 12/10/2024 at 3:10 pm. Never got seated. Waited 10-15 minutes and walked out. Specifically went there for the beef tip special on Tuesdays. Guess they didn't want to sell any. Need to up your service before I'll go back. Never got acknowledged of even being in the building. A waitress did walk by me with a rea pitcher going to the front dining room. That was the only worker I saw. Poor service looses customers.

Oh, man. I grew up going to Boxcar in Claremont. It was always my favorite place to go when I was with my grandparents. My Mamaw loved the salad buffet and papaw loved the sirloin tips.
The food was consistently as flavorful as I remembered and have had in Claremont. The service was wonderful. I was pretty happy with everything!
Unfortunately, I’ve also been sick with food poisoning for the last several hours and the only thing that I’ve eaten was the food from there. It tasted wonderful, but I think the catfish was bad. I have an iron stomach and I honestly rarely get truly sick from something being a little off.
Super disappointed because other than actually being severely ill—we had a good experience. This location is much larger and quieter. I preferred a lot about this location. I probably wouldn’t get any seafood here if I ever come back.

We stumbled on boxcar grille through a Google search. Love, love, loved it. All the employees went out of their way with kindness. The food was excellent. My salad bar & baked potato were delicious.

We ate here on a Friday night while traveling. It took a while to get our food, over 45 minutes (5 people - 4 burgers and 1 sandwhich), but the server was very apologetic. The food was what we expected for a local diner and the theming was cute. If we are back in the area, we'd probably stop here again.
