If you like unseasoned food this is your spot. Baked beans tasted like canned dog food. Bbq has no taste. They definitely could put some love/season in their food bcs this wasn’t worth a penny! Nice people but tasteless food

Never been to such an outrageously priced BBQ joint in NC. Almost $30 for two tiny half trays of chopped BBQ and slaw. Drinks were $3.00 each and overflowing with Ice. Not enough food to get full on from now on I will stick with Randy’s BBQ…at least I won’t leave hungry.

On a trip to NC for a wedding, stopped in on a whim 30 mins before closing. Staff and patrons were friendly and down-to-earth. Food was excellent! Old school charm and great folks. Will return.

If anyone says the old BBQ is good they haven't tried BBQ anywhere else its half decent but the prices are steep for what it is and in 2021 they still don't accept cards or have wheelchair accessible entry. The owner/operator should really read these reviews it may actually help the business improve.

Walking in, you can feel the friendliness of the place. It is a small, very clean "hole-in-the-wall" type place. They serve both Carolina (vinegar based) and Lexington (vinegar with tomato). I'm not a fan of vinegar based sauces, but my husband liked it. The part of the bbq without sauce was delicious, and I wish I had gotten it without sauce. I got the plate that included coleslaw, baked beans, and yummy hush puppies. My husband enjoyed his salad that was topped with lots of chopped bbqThe staff wanted to make sure we enjoyed our meal. They were engaging, among where we were coming from and where we were headed... wishing us safe travels. We would definitely come back.Do note : they are a cash only establishment, so go prepared to pay cash.

They don't have any clue what BBQ is. One sauce and is extremely vinegar based. They also put slaw on sandwich which I can't eat and nothing says they do that. Pricing is high. Cash only and fries are like little hard sticks . So my jumbo sandwich plate was basically not edible and they offered no resolution. BewareParking: Very limited

In a day and age when most folks don’t carry any or very little cash, Little Pigs stands defiant. The first thing that “greets” a customer at the door is a sign advising they do not accept credit or debit cards only cash and local personal checks. That could partially explain why on a Wednesday, at the height of the lunch hour (12:30), there were only two customers in their dining room. There are some things I like about this place. You have to respect their history. They opened in 1963. The quaint brick building tucked away on the side of an old strip shopping center gives it a certain charm. Now, to the meat of the matter, I had a chopped pork sandwich that, besides being a bit on the dry side, was not bad. Although the pork itself lacked that smoke flavor barbecue purists crave, the end result was a decent barbecue sandwich. The slaw and sauce nicely complimented the pork. The sauce itself is neither Eastern nor Western N.C. Style. It seemed to be mustard based with hints of paprika and other spices. Definitely not a good stand alone sauce, but it worked well in the sandwich. Unfortunately, the hush puppies, always a southern barbecue restaurant staple, were flavorless. When it comes to Little Pigs, the bottom line is this. If you happen to be in the area and have cash in your wallet, give it a try. Is it worth a trip to the ATM? No, it is not. BTW: I hope the folks at Little Pigs connect the dots between payment types accepted and customer traffic. In today’s environment , a restaurant needs to be as customer friendly as possible to survive in this ultra competitive landscape. I root for restaurants like Little Pigs to make it. Not only because of their history, but because of what they add to a community’s culture. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best) I give Little Pigs a 6.

I grew up eating at Little Pigs BBQ and never miss a chance to go when I am in Statesville. The barbecue is just as good now as it was back then. If you are in Statesville, don’t miss Little Pigs BBQ.
