Closed down nowWent there 3 times for take out. Overcooked, greasy and cold soggy food in that order. Use to love it but this year it failed after 3 chances. Good luck on new endeavors

Went to this place last summer when they were transitioning. The staff was wonderful despite having to jump through numerous hoops! They were so friendly and patient! The food was great! We will continue to return for years to come!

Parking: Lots of spaces.

Kid-friendliness: Great family atmosphere!

Our food was perfectly cooked. The staff was friendly and attentive. The portions were great. We were unable to finish everything, and the rest definitely went home with us. We will be coming back.

Went for the band which was fun but the food is only so so. A little pricey and limited menu. Very limited beer menu as well. I shared a chicken sandwich with my husband and we left.

Wheelchair accessibility: No way!

Edit.New management. Experience was not nearly as good as many years past. Sad to say, after years of tradition, crabbys is off my list.

We did indeed order from Crabby’s in Sunset Beach, because we used to always stay at Sunset Beach and enjoyed eating there. Yes, it was a long drive back to Oak Island. We didn’t feel the need to check our food as we assumed our order was filled. My comment was only to encourage other customers to check their orders.

The restaurant must’ve been bought by someone else because the menu has changed and the food isn’t good. Took over an hour for us to receive our food. It was all cold. It was very over priced. It wasn’t a good experience at allReply to your comment:I’m not sure what to tell ya but we had a party of 4 Saturday night and was not busy at all, and this absolutely is a REAL review. We did wait an hour and half. Maybe go check with your wait staff and ask them about it. We come here every year and your menu did change. We were willing to come back but with the response like yours definitely not. Learn to take criticism since it comes with the business.

Really enjoyed my food here. I've seen the other reviews and most of them are way off base as they're set in their old ways and cannot accept change. Food was great, service was wonderful. I will return the next time I visit Sunset Beach!

Wheelchair accessibility: Much like the residences on the island, crabby odd waters is not wheelchair acceptable.

Have been a loonnnnnggg time diner/customer/patron of Crabby's.. We began dining here when they used paper plates and had the holes in the tables to allow diners to discard their trash during the meal... Great concept. (Was told the health department didn't approve), but we loved it.We went after it was reviewed and recommended by "Southern Living" Magazine. We typically dine here a couple times per year, it's always been a great place for quality food with unique recipes.Last night we were generally disappointed... Our waitress was "5 ? " She was kind, friendly and very professional. 20+% tip... so no issues with her at all.The food was different than I had been accustomed to. I did order a "Senior" 2 item combo, so I didn't expect a large portion, but this was the first time in my 62 years that I've been served a 1/4 (one quarter) piece of flounder,it reminded me of a "fish stick". The shrimp was large and tasty. The side of 1/2 ear of corn was just like out of the grocer's frozen food freezer similar to "Birdseye"We ordered the crab dip appetizer which used to be our favorite, it has gone from being served in a bread bowl, then a couple of years ago to a regular bowl with toast points to last night's version of some "partially" fried, very greasy flour tortillas with a crab dip made from a completely different recipe than we've ever had there, (tasted like a mushy deviled crab"), nothing like previously. My wife didn't even eat it.The she crab soup was very tasty, similar to what we've always gotten there so fortunately that recipe seems to have remained the same.I know things change, they appear to be working on the decor and that is ok, so that's not a problem, but it just seems unfortunate when a truly "quality" establishment, tinkers around and changes recipes that made them great to begin with.I hope Crabby Oddwaters can settle in and regain and retain its place as a truly outstanding restaurant as it has been for 30+ years.I know we can't go back in time, but I surely miss this restaurant and the way that it was..I sincerely think the current owner is serious and is genuinely interested in providing a quality experience for his patrons.

My partner and I ate here while on our vacation to sunset beach and we had a wonderful time! The food was delicous, they gave us hush puppies to start which were probably the best hush puppies I’ve ever had! We had the crab balls which were delicous although we thought they were going to be bigger. And we had the hellacious barge low country boil and it was fantastic, we were blown away with how good the shrimp were! Our server Caroline was absolutley delightful!!

The best part about this place is the service. Everyone smiles and is so attentive to all the guests. Our waiter gave us great advice in things to do in the area that was spot on. The food was solid too but nothing too extraordinary. The atmosphere is a little dull but the view of the water is pretty nice. Overall it’s a solid place to have fresh local seafood at reasonable prices.

My husband and I stopped in last night hoping to get a drink. There was a sign outside clearly stating the last seating time was 7:45pm but we were hoping the bar might be open later. No luck, but the bartender gave us each a free drink to enjoy on the picnic tables outside. All the staff we interacted with in our brief time there seemed eager to please. And the outdoor space was the perfect place to enjoy a drink at dusk. We were impressed!

First time, last time. Couple of greeters at the bottom of the staircase were jovial and polite. It was raining so we were super careful getting up the wooden steps…they are slick when wet. Not sure if there is an accessible entrance so hopefully the owner will chime in with a response. We made it safely to the top and opened the door to a “hostess counter” where we encountered a third staff member…this one seemed begrudged to be there and halfheartedly asked “what can I do for you”. Our party of two were seated with menus and sleeved silverware. It was early in the evening, 5pm-ish, and raining so it was not busy. Our waiter quickly took our drink orders and brought those right back with delicious hush puppies and honey butter spread. *napkins need to be on the table or brought with the first food item. We watched each table after us reach for the greasy hush puppies then realize there were no napkins? As for our entrees, portions were good but everything seemed to be over cooked and under seasoned if there was any seasoning at all. I ordered a crab boil at market price ($48) and it showed up with zero seasoning. It was not cooked with seasoning or butter and none was added afterwards. The pan was dry with a few small shriveled potatoes, mushy andouille sausage and overcooked frozen corn lying in the bottom under the snow crab. Why is everything dry and over cooked at 5pm? So disappointing. The vegetable medley was seasoned but grossly overcooked…mush. Flounder was the same? Fried shrimp was the highlight and worth having again. No napkins, sauces or condiments were offered…you must ask which I encourage you to do while you wait for your meal. Also, usually customary to offer moist towelettes with messy entrees like snow crab…not only were none offered, there are none available.
