Our new favorite weekly date night place to have dinner or appetizers and listen to live music to unwind from the week. The service is great and friendly.

Overall, this would have been an easy 4 star review if not for the new owners’ “no substitutions” for sides policy. It’s pretty arrogant when a restaurant owner/chef decides what sides I should have without offering any flexibility, especially when the sides are equally priced. Every entrée comes with fries, slaw, and hush puppies, with no substitutions allowed. That’s just unreasonable. If I’m trying to eat healthier and don’t want fries, why shouldn’t I be able to swap them out for something else? Very poor decision on the owner’s part to assume they know best what I want to eat when I’m the paying customer. It’s the reason we won’t be back.

First visit to The Wharf. We were there early so only bar service was available but the bartender was a sweetheart and very accommodating. The clam chowder was so yummy. Thank you for taking care of a couple of newbies to your establishment we will be back for dinner service.

The restaurant doesn't open until 5pm ,but Google leaves you to believe there is full service starting at 3pm. We arrived around 3:15 and told we had to sit in the bar area. We sat at a high top table that was uncomfortable for my disabled father. The limited menu didn't offer much variety. I had a Caesar salad that was lackluster at best. The tea was nauseating. Our server couldn't answer our questions and was constantly having to ask someone for guidance. The menu on the blackboard was from the previous day although it didn't specify that. I tried to order the pizza, but was told they were unsure if they could accommodate. The sous chef attempted to try to salvage the experience, but by that point , the damage was done. The location is wonderful, too bad they don't have it together. I really was hopeful that it would be a good experience.

Looking for a great atmosphere inside and out? Come here, this place is GREAT! Right on the ICW, offering great food and a bunch of wonderful people staffing it.
Reservations aren't required, but highly recommended for large groups.

Didn’t realize this spot had changed from SmacNally’s to The Wharf, but either way, we enjoyed a great dinner. The catch of the day was good along with the fried shrimp platter.

One of the best waterfront patio spaces at Holden Beach. It’s the perfect place to unwind, watch the boats and take in the sunset. Hoping they continue the live music lineup like they had last summer — it really adds to the atmosphere. Overall, a solid addition (or refresh!) to HB.

We had just gotten into town and they took us in right before they closed. Our waitress was amazing and the food was really good. It's all outdoor seating so bring a jacket if it's getting towards evening. I got some amazing sunset pictures. Beautiful island.

I am an unapologetic shrimp nerd.… Fried shrimp in particular. Yes, I’m spoiled. I’ve had fried shrimp up and down the eastern seaboard from Maine to the tip of the Florida keys. Perhaps I’m bias, having lived worked and visited the Holden Beach area for the past four decades, and I’ve had my share of both good and bad shrimp. Unfortunately, more of the latter than the prior. Which brings me to The Wharf… The latest incarnation of one of my favorite seafood spots, Betty’s seafood. The simple charm and iconic waterfront setting of the restaurant remains the same. Casually relaxing on the patio watching boats go up and down the intercoastal waterway, particularly at sunset, is mesmerizing. That was always the draw for me… Until tonight. The Wharf has taken a simple staple and executed it to perfection. Excellent shrimp, executed flawlessly in the classic calabash style, left me wanting more. Adding insult to injury, they made me forgo my favorite condiment of all time, good cocktail sauce. In its place is an amazing garlic/Cajun aïoli that is transformative. Add to that the friendly, attentive staff, and you have the makings for a real game changer in the Holden Beach seafood scene, which has seen decline in the past several years. Do yourself a favor and experience this for yourself. I’ll be back for sure

You can’t beat outside waterfront dining with a great chef who prepares excellent food. The shrimp basket with the Cajun tartar sauce is the bomb!!! Wow, this Tennessee girl loves this place 😍

Went to The Warf last night. 👎👎 Service was terrible. Took forever to get to our table. Never checked back for drinks. Food took forever, our food came out 10 minutes after our guests were already eating theirs. Fish sandwich was ice cold and had to be remade. We won’t be going back.

Our party of 8 adults went to The Wharf last Friday night for dinner. This version of the site had been open only 3 weeks and we were looking forward to trying it out during our beach week. The bar eating area was busy and rocking with a band on the attached outside deck. There was a large deck area for outside eating. We had made reservations for the dining room and we were shown to a quiet lovely room with wonderful views of boats cruising by on the intracoastal waterway. Our waiter Brian was friendly, extremely helpful and joined in the merriment of our group. The food was just wonderful! Great fried extremely fresh seafood, okra, and onion rings (if you’re in the mood for fried, which some of us were) that were not greasy at all. They had a nice menu that had a variety of selections that met just what our group wanted. The chef is from Boston and he came out half way through the meal. We appreciated him taking the time to talk with us. Highly recommended! We wish them great success and hope to return next year!

Smacnally’s has excellent sea food! We got the fried shrimp platter with hush puppies & hand cut fries and it was so good! The views on the waterfront are beautiful. The staff, servers were very attentive. The manager or owner Purcell was visiting everyone’s table to make sure they were happy with their food. We ate outdoors bc it was such a beautiful day. We actually ate here 3 times out of 4 days. IT WAS THAT GOOD! 👍
