Restaurant was recommended by a hostess at another restaurant when we asked where to get good prime rib. We called ahead and got a reservation which turned out to be a good idea. When we were seated our waitress got our drinks and appetizer orders then was very patient when we were indecisive about our sides. We ordered crab stuffed mushrooms and mozzarella sticks to start. We each had a salad. My husband and I both ordered the prime rib and our friend had the ribeye. Apps arrived quickly, nice and hot. The crab stuffed mushrooms were really good, nice fresh mushrooms with plenty of real crab stuffing. The mozzarella sticks were also really good. Then our salads arrived, also very good. When the meals arrived everything looked good. Our friend cut into her ribeye that she'd ordered well done, it was medium rare and was sent back to cook some more. The prime rib looked good but then we cut into them. You should not have to SAW the meat to cut it. After a number of tries, cutting off the fat and grizzle to get to the center of the meat, we both gave up. The waitress was very apologetic and- we asked for our check. When it arrived, I asked for the manager to see if one of the meals could be comped because it was so bad. When she came out of the kitchen. I tried to say that I was willing to pay, just not the entire bill. She snatched the check out of my hands and snapped at me "it's fine". I again offered to pay something and was ignored, the woman went back into the kitchen. Through all of this our waitress was a champ. Even if the bill had been reduced we made sure she was very adequately compensated. Turns out the restaurant was recently sold. The manager was from the old owners and apparently has an "I don't care anymore" attitude. However, it doesn't give this manager the right to treat a customer the way that i was treated. Because of her attitude, we will never be returning and will be telling our friends not to go.

And you ate all of your food and drinks with no complaints until the bill arrived! At which point the owners comped your meal. Your scam was good!! Beware other restaurants these people are professional!

As a Chef I enjoy this establishment. The food is consistently presented and cooked. Although the Chef must love asparagus. I see some concerns about the use of masks. If you are really concerned about contracting "The COVID" order out. There are some guidelines for open establishments but I haven't been in any that follow the rules completely. I saw someone complaining about the use of masks and she was not wearing hers while talking to the staff. So if you want everyone to follow the rules you must follow them as well. The other night I noticed a very popular Chef from my area sitting at the bar and he said the food is always great and returns often

Staff refuses to wear face masks even though it is REQUIRED BY LAW that they do so. When asked why I was told “we don’t wear those hear.” Awful and dangerous. This establishment now has blood on their hands by contributing to the pandemic.

Staff does not wear masks during a global pandemic and in defiance of state mandate. With that mindset one can only wonder what the decision making process is like in the kitchen.

Establishment ignores state safety mandates when it comes to staff wearing masks.Sent them a DM and they replied ever so blatantly that they ignore state rules:"If you were worried about your health and saw that we were not wearing mask you should have not stayed we don't believe in wearing mask because we social distance all of the tables"They do not value your safety when it comes to COVID-19

Food for the most part was good, got the flounder, shrimp and oyster combo, fried. The service was good. The 3 stars is because the slaw was inedible. I won't be back unless the slaw gets better.

They are shady about their gift cards, they don’t want to honor a gift card that was bought ($100) before they got some new computer systems, as if it’s the customers fault? There is no other place in Surf City that tries to refuse to honor a gift card, and the food isn’t worth it anyway. Take your money and go someplace else. Anyplace else.

Bad business practice here! I received $100 gift card for this restaurant last year and, not living here, it was a few months before I got here to use it. My husband and I had dinner and when we went to pay, the manager came over and said they changed computer systems or whatever and could not take the gift card! After arguing the point, she took it and gave the balance on a paper gift certificate, which was $38. Tonight we went back only because we still had $38 to use and guess what?? Again the manager said they can't take that certificate!! Again arguing the point, she said she was going to call the owner! She comes back and said "we're even, I'll take this but obviously I won't be giving you the $5 or $6 change". Seriously. Don't bother with this place, there are way too many good restaurants that actually honor gift cards no matter how old they are. Buddy's, Daddy Macs, Surf City bbq...all have better food and absolutely none of them gives customers any trouble with gift cards. Avoid the scammers! If you don't live here, you could get scammed. Is it the customers problem if a restaurant changes gift card systems? Absolutely not!
