I placed a to go order online For a patty melt a burger and cheese sticks Burger bun was soaked though all the toppings were laying loose in the box. Cheese sticks where burnt. Not the normal cheetah pattern from wood fire oven etc. Patty melt was a crisp Just straight burnt. I'm a local and lived here all my life. The food at these places is outrageously priced at bare bottom quality. My recommendation would be drive to cherokee NC and stop at fresh burger. Half the cost and one of the best burgers one could get in the smokies.

We enjoyed our first visit to The Mad Batter Kitchen / Lazy Hiker Brewing Company (they share the same building) in Silva. We ordered a medium pizza, half with mushrooms and onions (they didn't have banana peppers) and half with extra cheese. My dining partner got a beer. It was convenient to have both establishments share the same common space. The pizza was good. Not the best I've ever had, but good. The crust wasn't bad, though it could have been a bit poofier at the edges. The flavor of the sauce and cheese was good. It took a moment to figure out the process for ordering, but there were good instructions on the wall, and the person who took our order was helpful. The vegetarian / vegan and gluten-free options are impressive. The atmosphere is fun and the place in general has a great vibe.

I've eaten here three times when passing through Sylva. The second and third times were under duress for various reasons. Never again. The food is quite low quality. The service is, well, basically non-existent. They've figured out a way to only talk to you when you place your order. Self-serve is an understatement. Prices are full service. You'll see if you go there. If you're real lucky, they MIGHT acknowledge your existence when they bring your food.

This is quite possible the worst pizza I have ever eaten.. The cheese was basically tasteless and rubbery as you can get. The crust was also just about as bland as the cheese was. I’m glad this place serves a lot of beer because you really do need it to process this type of food in any positive way. The gentleman who brought our food to us acted like a scalded dog, he couldn’t even smile or act remotely happy to be in the place, he must’ve just had some of the pizza.. I guess when it’s a small area with hardly any competition a place like this can get away more with such poor food and unfriendly staff.

They forgot an order when we were done eating, i went to tell them they didn’t deliver said order and was going to make another order for something else to go. Asked for refund during purchase of togo order; person taking orders apologzed profusely for food not coming but cannot understand that I would like a refund? Kitchen hears my man taking orders blue screening and rushes out the item that was forgotten. I realize I am not getting any where and the order that was forgotten was my toddlers meal. I insist on paying for a different item as my toddler is about to start WW3 in the street. At this point i stopped caring about the refund of 10$ to at least get her meal started in the kitchen and relieve the line behind me waiting. As my wife was leaving she was told the forgotten item was delivered so no refunds. And we should just take our food with us. Got a great reference to try your place and was hoping for it to be our new local pizza place. I am good. Wish i would have read the reviews prior hand. It also felt like a dog cafe, while in line a dog got defensive and snapped at my toddler ; owner asked if she was ok but the damage is done…seems to be asking for an accident in a establishment that serves food and alcohol? I feel bad for that kitchen also!!! No AC !?! The real hero’s are the people making the food. End your customer service and start over. Do not bring your child if they are under 7. If you do come early and camp seats like everybody else that frequents that spot.

Waited 10 minutes in line for a prepaid online order when the directions stated to notify a staff member for pick up. Line very long, rude employee saying to get in line. All three people in front were dining in and had multiple orders. I would suggest a separate line for prepaid that are just grabbing the order.

The reuben is extremely small with very little meat. The patty melt was a round burger instead of square, so there was lots of extra bread. There wasn't but a few small slices of grilled onions. Also, patty melts are supposed to be served on rye or sour dough bread. Biggest waste of $30+ dollars.

The Mad Batter has a fantastic pizza! I also enjoy their garlic cheese fries. The Lazy Hiker sells custom beer in the establishment, and that service is always great. This is my go-to place in Sylva to feel welcomed with a smile!

Stopped for a late lunch on Tuesday. Got the garlic knots, bacon and apple pizza, rice bowl and avocado BLT. AWESOME food! Great atmosphere! Lazy hiker brewery attached had great beer too!!!
