I've always enjoyed the Lazy Hiker, I come here often for shows and such. Today, though, Mad Batter really missed the mark.I ordered the hot pretzels ($9), and received what looked like three awesome pretzels with beer cheese, I was so excited. I bit into one and thought that I died. It seems they may have been soaked in dishwater, or perhaps someone went to the effort to take them to the coast and dunk them at the beach. The stomachache from the salt and bitterness haunts me still.I spoke to the folks working and told them, "this is really bad, it's so salty my belly hurts". They seemed unsympathetic, but replaced my order.I cannot describe the disappointment of being betrayed a second time. I can only say that they were somehow saltier.I regret that I must write this, but cannot sit idly by while the Mad Hatter has twice left me crestfallen.I'm told the burgers are really good.

Fantastic food, just super unfortunate that they are more than happy to employ (physically, mentally, financially, and emotionally) abusive people! I’m referring to Hunter Bailey, the pizza guy, just so there’s no confusion.

Tried Mad Batter for the first time tonight and it was amazing! Really good crust and perfectly cooked. Will definitely visit again next time I’m in the area!

Paid sixteen bucks for a tiny overcooked piece of chicken on a bun and a cup of soup. Soup was pretty good. Restaurant was covered in instructions. Every woman inside the establishment looked well-vaccinated.

Terrible. I tried the wings before and they were over cooked, dry, and cold with the least amount of sauce possible on them. But I decided to give them another shot. This time I paid over $15 for a fried chicken sandwich that I could have made for less than a dollar. There was nothing fancy about it. Bun was stale, had a couple flakes of lettuce on it, and the chicken itself looked like it came from an elementary school. If you wanted to add anything to it, it cost 50 cents each extra including PICKLES!? RANCH!?! The only service you get is someone brings your food to you (late). You are expected to get your own silverware, napkins, etc. AND bus your own table. And you have to pay and tip before you get your food. Lesson learned: never tip ahead of time.

First time staying in Sylva and this was the first place we tried. Really good pizza and great wings! Ask for the blue cheese with the wings!

Probably my favorite place to eat in Sylva besides Josh's Backstreet Takeout. Love their Caesar wraps and grilled chicken sandwich, and weekly wing flavor specials that are always A++ (got the pineapple wings on a whim this week and was surprised at how good they were). Good quality wing in and of itself which is a must for a place that serves wings. Only a few times did I get a super small portion or had part of my order missing or wrong. They are nice, just double check your order before you leave if ordering takeout!

Cool little pizza shop. Free on-street parking. They share a space with a local brewery, the Lazy Hiker. They have a stage and seem to have some sort of entertainment every night of the week. Staff were really nice. Order food from one counter and alcoholic beverages from another. Food was delicious.. we got bacon cheese fries with their garlic sauce on the side (amazing) and a pepperoni pizza... Very good. Crust was really good... Thin but not crispy and the outside crust was crispy on the outside, and chewy and airy on the inside. Would have been even better with some of that garlic sauce (yum). You grab your own utensils and condiments and clean your own table. That was unexpected. But overall, a great vibe, great food, and would definitely go back again to try something else and maybe catch a local band.

The food was amazing. I had the margherita pizza which was out of this world packed full of flavor. The garlic bread and broccoli soup were also nice, hot and tasty. The staff were all friendly and kind enough to answer any questions. I would definitely recommend Mad Batter Kitchen.

We were wanting to get pizza and I had never had Mad Batters pizza so we decided to give them a try. We went with too of the favorites 14 inch pies that being the High on the Hog which is a meats pizza and then also got the Supreme which everyone knows what that is (but with no peppers) Our pizza would be ready within 15 to 20 minute so quickly we headed that way. Once arriving our pizzas were ready. Once home the pizzas did look good but the Supreme did end up still having the peppers on it. I will also say they also were not loaded with toppings but but didn't stop us from quickly getting into them. The crust was pretty thin which I liked and the flavor of the sauce was very good. This made for a very crushable pizza. I probably finished 4 slices in about 5 minutes. I was also a fan of the fact that the pepperoni they use are the big ones. Will for sure have to get the 16 inch pies next time though but we will for sure be coming back.

Drove in from Florida and wanted to tryout something new. After spending 13 hours in a car we wanted to just sit down and eat. Service was excellent! So let me clarify, you don't have a waiter or waitress, you order at the counter and get your own condiments and utensils from a communal table. All of that I was fine with! The girl behind the register was nice as were the young ladies who brought us our food, in a timely fashion and piping hot! Now the food! I got the Killer tomato soup and the kale Caesar salad with avocado. The soup was too bland for my liking but the salad was excellent! Could've used more dressing, but the kale added and the avocado really made it quite good! My wife ordered the pizza, it was dry and tasted like it was reheated. Now if it were fresh, 7/10, but reheated, 4/10. My kids got the fried chicken sandwich and the chicken tenders kids meal. They didn't complain and I didn't sneak a bite so I can't give a review of that. Anyway, more was ordered at the table but everyone's review of the food was it was mid. The ambience and setting are gorgeous and downtown Sylva is beautiful at night at this time of year. We may have gotten there too late to get a real taste for the food. Sorry no pics.

Don’t waste your time! We had to seat ourselves, go get our own high chair from across the restaurant and down 2 sets of stairs, get our own drinks, our own silverware, napkins, literally anything you had to go get it yourself. We have 2 small children so we joked that we should tip my husband because he had to go get everything we needed. You’re also expected to clean your own table for them afterwards! Absolute joke! We were traveling through with another family and this was the worst. Beautiful city, such high potential, when we pulled through the city we were really excited to explore but horrible letdown. Food was also not good, we ordered a chicken sandwich, it was fried to oblivion, bread was stale and chips were rock hard. We also ordered a pizza that was so greasy you had to go find some Parmesan cheese to soak up the oil and then had to go find ranch and pay $.50 per little paper cup of ranch that we got ourselves. Just absolutely horrible customer service. No reviews mentioned any of this when we were researching while driving so I figured I’d help fellow travelers out. Just avoid it!! We also ended up spending around $70 for this LOVELY *rolling eyes* experience as well… seriously save yourself.Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly at all!! It was horrible trying to get our 1 and 4 yr olds settled when we’re running all over the restaurant for everything we need.
