Todd Mercantile has a lot going on. The first thing you'll see (and smell!) as you walk in the door is the bakery. The scones, muffins, cookies, bear claws, bread...everything I've had from here has been excellent. Next up, a couple of taps for those who would like to enjoy a local beer or cider. Then ramble back into the grocery section for local eggs, produce and all manners of soft drinks. Upstairs peruse some local crafts and a big space for dances. The front porch is a great place to enjoy a drink and a snack and watch the world go by. If you're lucky, you may stumble upon an impromptu jam session. It's a great place to cap off a bike ride or paddle.

This wonderful, small country store has a delicious assortment of baked goods and breads available as well as all kinds of miscellaneous items ranging from fresh/frozen meat to candy to post cards to stickers to local art to toiletries. They have some local products such as honey, beer, cheeses, meat, and produce. They have a little art gallery with locally made items to purchase, such as prints, mugs, ornaments, and jewelry.
The loaf of bread we got was absolutely amazing - fresh, hearty, wonderful crust. I wish we had picked up a few more loaves to stick in the freezer!
This is an absolute must-stop for tourists in the area to grab some wonderful local items. The drive out is absolutely beautiful; 3 of the roads that lead here are along either the New River or Elk Creek.

If you haven't been here, you are doing a disservice to your taste buds! We bought the chocolate croissants and holy cow were they delicious! They had a nice selection of honey that will pair perfect with the oat & molasses bread they offered. We will be back for their lunch selection next time

The mercantile is located about 30 minutes southwest of West Jefferson at the bottom of a windy mountain road. The store has a little bit of everything you may or may not need. It was strangely enough my birthday wish to travel to the mercantile and to me it did not disappoint. It is a shopping experience! Not filled with trinkets and such but more cool shit you may just need to stay alive. Gourmet scones and grass fed beef, vegetables, local honey and a variety of beverages and snacks. There are some souvenirs available to indicate you successfully made the drive down the mountain road but no snow globes or shot glasses. Helene devastated this area a year ago and I was glad we went to show them some love. Had a great time, thank you!

Stopped in to look at the local art items and get some treats from the bakery. Walked out with cookies, banana bread and a homemade pimento cheese sandwich on delish bread! Seems like great local place to gather as well.

I stopped in today to grab some honey root beer that my son and I love. I grabbed a chicken salad sandwich while there and the chicken salad was probably the best I’ve ever had! The people running the store were also very nice. Stop in and grab something to eat and check out the old mercantile.

A mountainside mercantile for a quick beer, or live music!!
The local- owned business has an atmosphere most places fight to maintain; these people do it with ease!
Make the stop.

10/10 great atmosphere and amazing baked goods!
This is a hidden gem in Todd, and if you haven’t been here yet, make a visit! The bakery has a wide array of goodies, and they are homemade.
If you like pimento cheese, try their homemade variety. It’s made fresh, and it’s delicious ! I’ve used it when making shrimp and grits.
There’s all kinds of things to see in this store, and a lot of them are handcrafted.

Some of the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had...icing is spot on. Very talented baker.
Wow! I walked out with one slice of carrot cake and one chocolate chip cookie. I walked to the car, took a bite of the cookie, and went straight back in to buy 3 more cookies. They tasted just like my grandmothers that passed a couple decades ago. I got home and tried the carrot cake, somehow that was even better. I’d take a picture but it’s all gone.

What a great place!! I happened to visit on one of the pop-up days with several of the local artisans which was nice. The baked goods here are incredible and offered several freshly baked gluten-free options, which was music to my soul! I will be stopping back by before I leave town and making sure to visit every time I am nearby.
