A gem in Taylorsville. Staff is always friendly. The food comes out fast and always tastes amazing. I don't care for grits but their jalapeno cheese grits changed my mind! A must try!

I had the pulled pork sandwich with fries and a soda and it was great!! Juicy pork and choice of sauces and generous portion of fries. Our server was very personable and attentive...I highly recommend you try this place!!

I have always bragged about this place AND IF you don't care that much about fries, chances are you'll have a great experience. However, my favorite dish--and a favorite of many I know--the "loaded cheese fries," has changed for the worse. The fries used to be just as described, "extra crispy." They tasted like batter covered fries and were delicious. Now, they have substituted the fries for run-of-the-mill crinkle fries that are bland and mushy. The BBQ, cheese sauce and Pico are still very good, but the fries, sadly, are horrible.
Always the best food. Never had anything that wasn't good. The smoked chicken is my favorite entree and the sweet potato casserole is out of this world.Kid-friendliness: My daughter spilled her drink and the waitress cleaned it up without saying anything to make her feel bad about it. They are always very accommodating to families with children.

We saw a story from Our State Magazine about Apple City BBQ and decided to give it a try. My BBQ palette is eastern NC style BBQ, be we've come to like western NC also. When we arrived I was surprised how small it was. I ordered the small BBQ plate. Service was fast. Drinks are self serve (I kinda like that). The BBQ was good, but I wouldn't make a special trip for it. If you find yourself in the area, it's a great place to stop.

I’ve been to many bbq places around the country (not including Texas yet) and this was by far the best brisket I have ever had. The fat was *perfectly* rendered, and both the flat and the fatty were extremely moist and tender. It passed the bend test and pull test flawlessly. The bark on the brisket was truly fantastic and I dream of making a brisket like this. It is worth it just for the brisket to come and try it for yourself.The pork ribs were literally fall of the bone tender (personally I prefer a bit of a bite to my ribs, but nonetheless they were insanely juicy and not overly smoky but definitely prominent in smoke flavor). Even the sides were fantastic: we had the Mac and cheese, baked beans (not your typical thick canned baked beans, but still delicious), green beans (honestly my favorite), the hush puppies, and the corn nuggets.The waitress that we had was very attentive and they were very cautious about mine and my mother’s gluten sensitivity (all the sauces are gluten free). The pitmaster came out to talk to us because I was raving about the brisket and wanted to ask a couple questions about his process. He was more then happy to talk to us and you could tell he was extremely passionate about his craft, which could definitely be tasted through his food. All in all amazing food and would definitely come back to eat this bbq.Dietary restrictions: Both me and my mother are gluten intolerant and they were very accommodating and aware of what we could and could not have. All the sauces are gluten free.

Editing my review because I was immediately contacted by Adam at Apple City BBQ willing to make this right however they could. He even went as far as to give his personal contact information so that we could get it straightened out, willing to refund what I was missing+ extra for my time. I am not going to accept any compensation because This really impressed me that they were so prompt and caring of their service and I understand that things like this can happen.Just drove 30 minutes for $75 worth of food for part of our order to be missing. It would be over an hour to go there and back and pick up the rest and we don’t have that kind of time to go back right now to “fix” it. ?

The Barbeque was moist, flavorful with just the right amount of smoke. Hushpuppies were good. Green beans were too spicy for me and mac and cheese was good but again to peppery. Overall very good, nice atmosphere. Great service. We drove up from Lake Norman to enjoy the bbq.
They have nothing that is on the menus posted for sides! Step up your game wasn’t very good either! Sloppy!
