I literally only try to buy our meat from here. Service is kind, food is amazing. Love having this place in town, you can’t beat it.
Amazing ribs; friendly staff.

Beer is great! Food is okay.
We drove 45 minutes to eat here because we saw on Instagram that it was a “hidden gem” restaurant in NC. It looked really good being farm to table, and having meat for purchase. For three people, we paid $150, but the food we had was not worth that price.
They gave us chili cheese tots for free due to an extra order being made on accident. We appreciated the free food, but it lacked flavor and was not very appetizing.
We ordered a ny strip, a ribeye, and the prime rib. All were cooked to the temperature we ordered at, but the steaks had zero flavor even with the au jus for the prime rib, and the horseradish sauce with the ribeye. We ordered bacon ranch potatoes with two of the steaks and side salads as our sides.
Only one of the meals had the bacon ranch potatoes, and the other was brought out a baked potato. We did not receive the side salads, and they did take $8 off the bill.
We finished with desserts, which left much to be desired. One was a red velvet cheesecake that lacked texture, a crunchy crust would have made it a lot better. It also lacked flavor and did not taste like red velvet. The other dessert was the lemon raspberry creme brulee. I’ve had my share of that dessert at other restaurants, and never had any complaints.
This was the worst creme brulee I’ve ever had. You’re supposed to be able to break the sugar crust on top, and the custard is supposed to be smooth and rich in flavor with a lukewarm to cold temperature. The best I can relate this to is if you let bread sit in applesauce until it softened. The temperature was warm to cold, and the flavor was not good. The sugar coating on top was not hardened, it was gooey thick sugar that you couldn’t spread out and came off on my spoon in one chunk.
I understand how reviews affect businesses, but if you’re going to claim that you’re a hidden gem, you’re going to have to deliver on all bases. From the negative reviews on here, pretty much all of them say all of the meat has no flavor. We will likely not be eating here again unless that changes, and more love is put into the food.

This place is a hidden gem! I was impressed with the friendliness of the staff, the service, quality of food and atmosphere. It was all good! We had the smoked prime rib French dip it was awesome! The house made desserts are off the charts.

My buddy and I road-tripped from South Carolina to Highlands Butchery after discovering it on YouTube—and it was 100% worth it. What an awesome experience from start to finish.
We both ordered the double patty smash burger, and it was outstanding—juicy, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. The coleslaw was spot-on too. And the bourbon selection? Hands down the best I’ve ever seen anywhere.
The bartender was personable and incredibly knowledgeable without being overbearing—exactly the kind of service you hope for.
Now for the best part: the steaks. I took home two ribeyes, and they were legitimately some of the best steaks we’ve ever had—and I’ve been fortunate enough to eat at some of the finest steakhouses in the world. Absolute home run.
The butcher was also fantastic—friendly, experienced, and clearly knows his craft. My friend asked for a specific cut (picanha), and not only did he know exactly what we meant… he had it available and cut it into five perfect portions on the spot.
We’ll definitely be back soon. Highly recommend!

Had a reservation for 6pm showed up 10 minutes early and was told our wait would be about 40 minutes. They need to not take reservation if they are not going to honor them! Hayden made the reservation for us with a specific time but the owner in the comment to this review states that they do not take formal reservations....
Probably the best mushroom Swiss burger I ever ate!! Tots are not greasy and are crispy and delicious!

I have to say I was very disappointed… had the pimento cheese burger. It was mediocre at best. Burger had no flavor. Pimento cheese was good. Fries were cold and just like any other frozen fries. The cream brûlée was not good at all… it was cold, like came out of the fridge cold and tasted like over sweet lemon drops… my husband had a burger with onion rings. His burger was tasteless also. Onion rings were very good. He also had the Oreo cheesecake it was just ok. We were both excited to try it but not sure we will be back…

The food was great but they were out of most all the Top Notch menu items so we settled with what they had left and the food was great however this was our first visit there and we were expecting something much more accommodating. They definitely need a wider variety of desserts.

This review is for the butchery side. We purchased ribeye, beef kabobs, and beef ribs, and every cut was excellent. The locally sourced beef was fairly priced, and the marbling and color were absolutely mouthwatering. You can truly see the quality in the meat. We will definitely be back for more.
