We went to Down on Mainstreet for dinner while in Little Washington NC. Husband got Spicy Plum pork chops with French fries and coleslaw (large serving). I’m not a huge pork fan so I didn’t try it but he said it was delicious. I had the southern fried shrimp and it was fantastic, salt and pepper small/med shrimp came with fries but I switched to house made chips - fantastic! and coleslaw (again large serving). We were so glad we tried Down on Mainstreet and are already trying to decide when we can get back to Little Washington for another meal here.

Visiting from Virginia. Dinner for 6. No bar drinks but 3 appetizers. Two people got side salads. Entrees came at 8:15. At 8:35, we were given our bill. We had barely started our entrees as one entree had not arrived with the others. Employees had started rushing around cleaning tables and putting chairs up on the tables. We weren't the last people in there. I can understand the kitchen closing at 8:30 but employees tearing around the rooms cleaning up while we are trying to eat was just plain rude. If we had been notified that we were expected to eat a full dinner in such a short time, we may not have gotten the appetizers. It was a birthday celebration and there wasn't even time for dessert. Disappointing.

This was our first visit to this restaraunt and it was great. From the hostess to the server to the food, everything was excellent. We will definitely be back.

When we arrived there was a long line ahead of us, so we almost gave up. However, the group in front of us was seated immediately. We were taken to a table within five minutes of our arrival. The servers were polite and cheerful. My husband ordered a club sandwich, hold the mayo. I ordered the grilled tuna sandwich, cooked medium well. The food arrived quickly and was prepared exactly as we wanted it. The portions were reasonable for lunchtime. The prices were fair. We were in and out within a half hour. We want to return to Washington soon, and we will eat here again.

We stopped in for lunch today and were sadly disappointed with the lobster bisque, which did not have any lobster in it, essentially tasted like cheese soup. Then the crab and shrimp quesadilla arrived, which tasted very fishy. We were comped for the quesadilla and the waitress apologized for our not so good experience.

A solid little place to eat, good food and a quaint dining area. Bonus for having indoor and outdoor seating. Also, get the frog legs!

This was our 2nd visit here. The staff was friendly and helpful. The menu has many choices. The pricing is reasonable. Food was prepared very well and portions were good. It was clean and the restrooms were neat and conveniently located. Today was shrimp day. The shrimp basket was great and had a lot of food. We will return.

Especially enjoyed this afternoon because it was not as loud as usual.

Parking: Limited number of spots. Have to parallel in front or very narrow spaces in back.

Not sure where to eat, we popped in here and was pleasantly surprised! A varied menu, pleasant and efficient service and so reasonable priced! We had the “lighter” salmon and rice ( perfect size for an older person), a fried catfish special with sweet potato waffle fries dusted with cinnamon sugar ( could have been dessert) and a fresh tuna sandwich that was accompanied by a kale side dressed in a tasty dressing. I doesn’t get any better. Yes, it was LOUD but as it started to clear out, that issue was resolved . And with the money we saved on the lunch we had enough for a pastry at a nearby bakery.

Food tasted great! The stars are 90% a reflection of the staff and facilities. As for atmosphere, we were greeted by a cockroach scuttling along the restaurant floor. You might think, why did we stay? We heard great things about their food! The service was not good but honestly our serve seemed to be over booked and had little help. We saw lots of workers milling about but few seemed to be working. Many young workers acting unprofessional as they chatted with coworkers and ignored responsibilities.
