I have nothing negative to say. I heard about the place on facebook and started sending my wife pictures of the doughnuts a month or more ago. Yesterday we drove up from Statesville finally!
There was a helpful employee at the counter who didn’t rush us as we discussed what we wanted. The decor and environment was nice. Zero complaints.
We took our four doughnuts and one apple fritter home with us. My wife says her chocolate glazed was delicious. Mine probably tasted very good, but I Tasmanian Devil-ed myself through it so quickly I’m not 100%.
I do know the apple fritter I had for breakfast this morning was, hands down, the best apple fritter I’ve ever tasted. Crispy where you want it to be, soft and flavorful where it should be.
10/10 will be back in the future.

A truly delightful Bakery & Café nestled in charming West Jefferson, NC. During my visit, I enjoyed Hometown Appalachia each morning — we were joyed to indulge in such sweetness early in the day. Some standout selections were: the Salted Caramel & Apple Cinnamon donuts, Strawberry gourmet cupcakes, & even a. . . Double Chocolate Espresso cupcake! Wow!
Hometown Appalachia is also locally-owned, offering modest service with a warm feel. All staff were kind & were generous to sample a variety of miniature donut holes. Staff recommended some neat hiking trails in the area, as well as some other restaurants to try. This sense of community is rare to come across.
When in downtown West Jefferson, Hometown Appalachia is a great choice! If you are a lover of all things sweet. . .

Used to be great. Now donut quality has dropped. Most flavors are very strange. Coffee comes from a 10 cup Mr. Coffee brewer, nothing to add to the poorly brewed Coffee but milk. Time to move on or step up your game. Suddenly, all the same day (5 days ago) an onslaught of fake 5 star reviews. This place is not good under its new management and the fake reviews show their desperation. Lowering scores even more for their feeble but obvious attempt to raise their ratings.

Visited at the 4th and got the most AMAZING banana pudding filled donuts. Owner was attentive and put them aside when I inquired about them, even on a busy weekend! Can’t wait to try more!

The doughnuts are always fresh and delicious! The young man who owns the shop is extremely friendly and polite. The lady working at the cash register is very nice and helpful. I highly recommend Hometown Appalachia for excellent food and service. I’m a repeat customer!

Just happened to find this place walking around west jefferson and im glad we did. It's my new favorite sweet spot. I got a strawberry frosted and a peanut butter chocolate and they were fantastic.
