Went in for a nice date with my wife. We sat at the table for nearly 15 min without acknowledgement from the staff, we walked out when a regular came in and got waited on immediately.

If someone says there’s no reason to go to Lansing, I disagree — especially if what you want is authenticity, friendliness, and food that feels like it was made by someone who cares about what they’re putting on your plate. The Log House may not be flashy, but it has soul. For those who enjoy small town charm, honest cooking, and that “local place everyone knows” atmosphere, this hits the mark.
Don’t expect fancy décor or huge dining rooms — the space is cozy, very much local, very much genuine. The service is warm, friendly, and informal, just as you'd hope from a small town joint.
Hamburger Steak with Vegetables: This is a highlight. Hearty, satisfying, cooked with care. If comfort food is what you want, this hits the spot.

Decided to eat here instead of the touristy places in West Jefferson. Not very busy on Thursday at 1:30. Staff very friendly. I had meatloaf sandwich daily special. It was delicious. My very picky husband loved his turkey club. Prices very reasonable. We will be back.

Five stars depending on what you are looking for. I was there on a Saturday morning. It is a humble country home type of place. You seat yourself. It was very relaxed. My impression of family-owned and operated. Not a place to be in a hurry. The place is small. Definitely a local dive and very friendly. There were also a lot of out-of-towners but I did not notice any side-eyes.
The breakfast was really great. I would drive 20 mins for that sausage egg and cheese and home fries again. The drive there was beautiful. I'm a coffee snob. It was probably Maxwell House or Folgers :(. . I got my coffee fix from the general store up the street which was amazing.
