This place is great! Right across the street from the AirBnb we stayed in which is why we tried it out for breakfast. We got seated right away and our waitress was super friendly.
I got a biscuit with gravy. Biscuits and gravy is one of my favorite breakfast meals and theirs did not disappoint. It wasn’t so thick that it’s like Elmer’s glue and doesn’t soak into the biscuit at all, and it wasn’t so thin that it’s watery and causes a soggy biscuit. There was a hefty amount of sausage in it too. It was delicious. I’m usually disappointed when I order biscuits and gravy at restaurants because I make great gravy, but my only regret at Penn’s was not getting two orders of it.
My wife got a double stack pancake which was also good. The over-easy eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was crispy. We also split a piece of cake because they looked so good and it was delicious as well.

Great local place and if you're traveling through and you need a spot of internet, it's a good possibility you can stop there and get a little bit of internet and a lot of love! The service was exceptional, the place filled with locals ready to chat with you and I got a wonderful bagel breakfast sandwich and coffee. Both we're fresh! Love stopping here, to give my dog a little walk, take a moment to breathe, complete a zoom call and have a little breakfast before I reach my destination of Topsail!

1st time at Penn’s and the food was absolutely delicious! We had the Protein Breakfast Bowl and the Country Breakfast Bowl with multigrain toast. Highly recommended! Music was light and tasteful and I enjoyed being able to have a conversation without having to yell over the noise! We will definitely be back to try lunch and supper!

The food was fantastic. Our waiter was in training but Ashley was double checking every table and making sure everyone was happy. Small town atmosphere with a modern take on classic dishes. Glad we stopped in. I had the birdie and it was like a fresh chicken stir-fry on a sourdough bun. A little cumbersome to eat, lol, but I managed.
Food was not good. I got the salmon special with a grit cake and asparagus. The grit cake tastes old and like mildew. The salmon was more white than pink and very bland. The atmosphere is downcast.

Not sure where the friendly waitstaff was but they weren’t there today! We consider ourselves to be regulars and have always had a pleasant experience but after today I think we will take a break. My $16 salad was no bigger than a side salad, had grilled onions on it which I thought was strange and missing half the ingredients it had listed, when I told the less than friendly waitress she seemed bothered that I actually wanted what I overpaid for. Husbands pork chop was very tough and sides were just ok. We weren’t even acknowledged when we walked in, just looked at so we sat ourselves, just a different vibe than all the times we had been there with very friendly waitresses. We try and support locally but I just feel like they can do better and have done better.
