My wife and I decided to stop here on our way to Boone to see our daughter. I have never had a bad experience at Cookout until now. The food came out quickly so we were happy as we were on a schedule. First, we opened the box with my sandwich and fries in it and there was only a small pile of fries in the box. I went back to the counter and told the girl that we didn't receive two fries as we had ordered two. She snottily said that they put both fries in the same box. I informed her that what we received was not even one orders worth of fries and she told me there was nothing she could do. WOW! My wife got the chicken quesadilla and after a couple of bites she looked at me and said the chicken was awful. She opened the quesadilla and the chicken was burnt black all the way through. Any employee that would give that to a customer deserves to be fired. I offered to get her another one but she said it would take too long and we had already been told off by the counter staff. I will not be back there and they really need to look at how they do business and treat customers. There are many other options within a very short distance. We didn't go to the nearby Chick-Fil-A as it was Sunday.

Always friendly and hardworking staff...berry or cherry banana shakes and slaw dogs!!
The milkshakes are good. The hamburgers are mildly warm when I get them. The French fries are limp and oily not warm. I was told by the staff that limp cool French fries is the proper way to cook them. This is what I have been told at the Elkin and Wilkesboro locations. I rarely go there anymore. They pre make vanilla,chocolate,mint chip milkshakes and store them under a counter not refrigerated. By the time you get one it is a thawed out mess. To see dirty rags sitting under the spouts of the milkshakes machine and around the machine is disgusting. I want to jump the counter and show staff how to clean and not make such a mess!!!!! These comments are true to both Elkin and Wilkesboro stores. Are they franchised to the same person?

I've been to the one in Boone and Wilkes, I love both! Milkshakes r bomb diggity! I also think they should do the "Hot Mess" like they did on "Hell's Kitchen"!!! It's Cole slaw, horseradish, and thousand Island drag, etc, and smash burgers etc are original with onion rings on them? What?!?? Heck yeah!! 👍 Def recommend this 🍔 joint!!! Burger fell after handed to me, but replaced immediately at no charge. That impressed me, I will always go to The Cookout!!!

The management here is horrible. We waited in line for over 20 minutes, we had a large order and all of the things we ordered the lady read back to us but didn’t give us half of our order and said she didn’t hear what we said. Then told us we would have to get back in the line to get the remainder of our order. The pricing on our receipt was wrong as well but they said that they rang it up as a partial order which made absolutely no sense. The food was not hot and the fries tasted like they have been sitting for a long time. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and we will definitely never be back to this location.
